Jonathan Youth Vanguard (JOY2015) condemn in strong terms the continuous unprovoked, unwarranted, barbaric and violent attacks on the office and person of the President Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by misguided and uninformed youths in the northern part of the country in the guise of advocating for change. We also condemn the intended intimidation, harassment, victimization and all forms of attack meted out to supporters of President Jonathan and PDP by same uninformed in the northern part of the country. We also condemn the damaging of campaign vehicles, billboards and posters of Mr President and PDP in the northern part of the country. We are concerned that the elders and leaders in the north are quiet and are not advising or calling these youths to order and educating them on the need for violent free election according to the January 14, 2015 Abuja Accord.

In a statement issued from Asaba, Delta State, the Director General of the Vanguard Mr. Ebis Orubebe cautioned the Northern youths engaged in these activities to desist and called on well informed, enlightened and educated northern youths to stand up against these embarrassing and barbaric trend currently going on in the northern part of the country.

They are advised henceforth not to hinder people from any part of the country from freely associating with any candidate or political party of their choice . Gen. Buhari and the APC have been campaigning freely in every part of the country since the commencement of the electioneering process even the President Jonathan's home state Bayelsa without any form of harassment or intimidation. , Continuing he called on the Northern elders, Youth Leaders, Religious leaders and other well meaning Nigerians to caution these uninformed youths to desist from their barbaric actions and be reminded of the Abuja accord generally by all political parties. We equally call on the Nigerian security forces to probe these reported and unwarranted attacks on Mr President and bring the offenders to book according to the law of the land.

Finally, we call on all civilized Nigerian youths to condemn these shameful and embarrassing acts being perpetuated by some in the northern part of our great nation. It is clear from recent happenings that some Northern leaders are showing acts of desperation, divisive tendencies, intimidation and hatred on those who do not support their Northern agenda. Nigerians in any part of the country should be allowed to make their democratic choices irrespective of tribe, religion, geographic location and above all political affiliation. We once more call on all enlightened and civilized youths of the country to say no to electoral violence and support Mr president's one man one vote philosophy. Nigeria is bigger than any individual the statement concluded.
