By AFRIMA

To kick-start its New Year, the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, invited collaborators, partners and friends from the creative industry of Nigeria to an evening event tagged “Soiree with AFRIMA” held recently at the Amber Residence Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

The soiree also doubled as a forum for the International Committee of AFRIMA to receive feedback from the invitees on 2014 edition of the award ceremony which took place in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday, December 27 in partnership with the African Union Commission, AUC, and was hosted by Africa's leading contemporary music star, 2baba Idibia and Maryse Acotie, a famous broadcaster from Togo.

Joining the AFRIMA International Committee at the soiree were the 2014 AFRIMA technical team, media and corporate partners, and other invited guests. The Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mr. Mike Dada used the opportunity to appreciate the selflessness displayed by everyone in contributing to the success of the 2014 edition of the awards ceremony. He also revealed that the African Union Commission, AUC, will be hosting all the 2014 awards winners at the headquarters of the AUC in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at a date to be announced soon.

Most of those in presence at soiree applauded the AFRIMA organising committee for putting together a spectacular first edition, while suggestions were offered towards a memorable hosting of AFRIMA 2015. Offering his view, the CEO, Now Muzik, Mr. Efe Omorogbe said; “Although the postponement of the awards ceremony from November 9 to December 27, a peak season of activity for entertainment artistes, it was still a great show for a maiden edition of an awards ceremony”.

“The report is out there and I have been receiving calls from various artistes who attended the awards ceremony and from those who have seen the numerous media reports. The interesting thing is that I actually learnt one or two lessons from the awards ceremony that will be useful when next I am organising a show”, the respected talent manager added.

Concluding the review aspect of the soiree, AFRIMA Co-Producer & Country Director, Nigeria, Mr. Kingsley James applauded the commitment and the turnout of participants while encouraging their full involvement for the success of the 2015 All Africa Music Awards. Guests were subsequently treated to a sumptuous buffet, wine and good music at the poolside of Amber Residence.
