The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress [APC] has received credible information that the PDP in Rivers State has hatched an insidious plan to blackmail the APC during the campaign visit of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to Rivers State this week.

According to the plan which is now in possession of the APC, huge sums of money and several APC T-shirts will be provided to groups of PDP thugs who will stone the convoy of Mr. President during the presidential campaign rally of January 28, 2015 in Port Harcourt. According to the information, the money and T-shirts will be distributed to the thugs by Tuesday January 26.

The idea behind this satanic plot is to paint the APC in bad light before the media, observers and the Nigerian public. Another objective of the evil plan is to divert attention from the various acts of violence that PDP thugs have unleashed on APC members and property across Rivers State in recent times. It is also meant to undermine the reputation of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who is also the Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation.

The APC in Rivers State would like to state that its members would continue to undertake peaceful campaigns and always act within the ambit of the law and the peace accords signed by its leaders both at the national and state levels. We would continue to abhor electoral violence in whatever form and would like to call on the PDP and other parties to do same at all times.

Finally, the APC would like to call on the Nigerian public to be alert and not succumb to the evil machinations of the PDP who have shown that it may be impossible to eschew electoral violence from their politics as it appears ingrained in their DNA. We call on security agencies to be aware of these dangerous antics of the PDP to maim, destroy and now blackmail the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Rivers State and act accordingly.
