Enugu 2015: PDP uncovers plans by opposition to spread falsehood against Ugwuanyi

By The Citizen

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu State has raised the alarm over what it described as a “clandestine plot by some political opponents in the state to stage a campaign of calumny against its candidates in the 2015 elections, particularly the gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi”.

A statement signed by the  Director, Media and Publicity of  PDP  Campaign  Organization in the State, Chukwudi Achife, said that the party has uncovered a plot led by the gubernatorial candidate of a major opposition party in the state to spread false stories through street newspapers and the social media about Hon Ugwuanyi in a desperate bid to smear his image and reputation before his overwhelming supporters in and outside the state.

Achife derides the antics of the opposition candidate behind the smear campaign, which he said was not surprising since “he  is known as a person who has neither conscience nor a defined agenda for the development and emancipation of Enugu State” and therefore resorting to a campaign of falsehood was his only hope of making any impact whatsoever among the people.

The PDP Campaign spokesman however stressed that the gambit,  like in the previous occasions was bound to fail and boomerang against its originator, as the people of Enugu State have unwavering confidence in the candidature of Hon Ugwuanyi and no amount of blackmail will dissuade them from supporting him.

While warning that the, PDP would not sit back and allow its image and that of its candidates  to be smeared through falsehood in the name of politics, he advised the general public to ignore such antics from a politician  known for “his crass desperation to occupy the Lion building by any possible means”.
