SAN FRANCISCO, January 25, (THEWILL) – Rampaging Boko Haram insurgents are still on rampage in the North East as they stormed six villages in Michika local government area of Adamawa State Saturday, night, leaving on their trail, sorrow, tears and blood.

A local hunter, Ibrahim Gulak, who disclosed this to correspondents said the insurgents killed several people in the raids of the villages as they reportedly abducted several youths and women before destroying properties worth millions of naira .

Gulak, who listed the areas the insurgents raided to include Mbororo, Shahu, Liddle, Garta, Kamale and Ghumci, said the insurgents stormed the area on Saturday night at about 8 pm when the villagers were preparing to retire to bed .

According to Gulak, the gunmen who arrived the areas in their hundreds on motor cycles and few vehicles, “were mercilessly slaughtering people from house to house without remorse.”

He disclosed further that the gunmen burnt almost all the houses in the six villages after looting them, saying most of the villagers fled to the mountains for refuge while some were killed by the insurgents.

On the casualty figure, Gulak said, “For now I can't say the number of casualty as we are still in the bush, but they slaughtered many people like Christmas goats .They also abducted many trapped residents, mostly youths and women.”

A member representing Michika in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Kamale, confirmed the incident, telling THEWILL that “The militant Boko Haram has attacked our villages killing people, slaughtering many like rams and burnt houses.

''They kidnapped many youths and women. They attacked Mbororo, Shahu, Liddle, Garta, Kamale and Ghumci. The attack continued since last Friday and there is no presence of security operatives in the affected areas.

“We are calling on the government to come to our rescue, some of the fleeing residents are now trapped on mountains.''

Also confirming the attacks, the spokesman of the local vigilante group in the state, Mr. Young Maurice, said the Boko Haram attacked some villages in Michika .

According to him, when the insurgents mobilised about 300 of their gunmen in Garta town for the attacks, the youth vigilante men on the mountains reported to him and he informed the military immediately for intervention.

Due to the incessant attacks on the state by the insurgents, no fewer than 10,000 Higgi people of Michika, mostly farmers, are now living as refugees in Yola, the state capital and its environs.

This is coming as Michika and other towns in the neighbouring Madagali, the home towns of the state governor Bala James Ngilari, the speaker of the state Assembly Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as well as the former political adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmad Ali Gulak, are currently under the control of Boko Haram.
