Bosg Denies Payment To Contractors Linked With Sheriff

Borno state Governor Hon. Kashim Shettima has allegedly denied payment to all contracts linked with his former boss fomer Governor Ali Modu sheriff, as the political crisis between them deepens our correspondent has gathered.

Sources close to one of the contractor handling a multi-million Naira road project, which pass through a very populated area of the metropolis, said that since the parting of ways between Governor Kashim Shettima and his former boss, the project has suffered from lack of funding.

He said “ the last time the Borno state gave us fund was in 2013, a long time before the political disagreement between the two became very pronounced”.

“we shall have to review the cost of the project because cost of raw materials have skyrocketed and infect most materials are hard to come by now. I am sorry for the people of the area because this project would have impacted positively on their lives”, he added.

He said “ all road projects the government is undertaking are being funded except those being handled by the CGC and other companies linked to the former governor and god father of Borno politics Sen. (Dr) Ali Modu Sheriff”.

Speaking on the road projects, residents of Abuja Sheraton area Mallam Ibrahim Audu and Garba Isa says “the road constructions in Bulunkutu Abuja and other part of the metropolis are going on, except our own in Abuja Sheraton which was contracted to CGC a company which is said to belong to the former governor who is now a kingpin of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

“we the people of the area have made up our minds to vote for the PDP, the present government has abandoned us in our hour of need as the road is very important to us”, they said.

Reacting on the allegations, a source closed to the CGC denied the allegations, saying that “ as a am talking to you we are even processing our outstanding balance of payment .

He said “you know due to the security reason our Chinese employees have left, but we have employed indigenous Engineers to replace them, so as soon as payment is made we will commence work.”
