Jona Confirms Shielding The Thieves In His Government!
"They want to build more jails....while I want to build more universities! Do you want more jails?"
"They want to arrest people on the road and put them in jail! Do you want that?"
"Great Nigerian youths! The future belongs to you! My own generation is spent! We are finished!"
"You don't fight corruption by putting people in jail! You tackle corruption by building institutions!"
"They did not buy arms for the Nigerian military! Even if you want to spend $10 Billion on buying arms, it cannot buy arms for the whole military....the army, the navy and the air force! Ask them what they did with all the money!"
"Before, we were buying arms from private concerns....but now we deal directly with governments"!
"In 1983....No! 1984, when 'he' came into power, he had no single woman in his cabinet! Not a single woman! Is that what you want?"
Thus Jona roared on....amid a plethora of bad tenses and horrid pronunciations....in such manner as to make you wonder....if he ever saw the walls of a high school! But he brandishes a Ph.D!
As he rambled on, he forgot to tell us if he has personally trasfigured into a judge...every judge....every magistrate....presiding over every case in our courts!
Jona now assumes the position of our entire criminal justice system....which he interferes with at will....tampers with at will....personally dictating who to jail or and who not to jail!
Let someone remind Jona that it is the security services that investigate corrupt persons, it is the courts that try them, and it is the prison system that jails them...
So, if his mindset is as enunciated...why would he try thieves in his cabinet?
Why would he admonish those indicted to appear before senate committees?
Why would he advise corrupt ministers to refrain from obtaining court orders precluding them from trial....or even investigation?
Why would he ask corrupt ministers to resign?
Why won't he grant presidential pardons to government thieves already convicted in other lands?
He tried vainly to woo the women...
He skipped offering explanations on why his regime permitted Tompolo to purchase 8 warships....while we have a standing navy!
He failed to explain why our soldiers are kitted with porous helmets and vests in the war with Boko Haram!
Jona's uncoordinated tirade was his own way of responding to admonitions by his predecessors....Buhari and Obasanjo....who he earlier referred to as "motor-park touts"!
Buhari had made statements that needed clarifications from Jona...not innane threats!
Obasanjo had stated that he left over $35 Billion in our treasury when handing over to Yar'Adua....after paying off all the nation's external debts!
A statement also deserving of clarifications from Jona....not rabid threats....garnished in uncontrolled fury!
The sitting minister of finance had confirmed to the foreign media that Jona's government cannot account for over $20 Billion dollars....monies fleeced from NNPC accounts prior to deposition in the central bank....the federation account!
Monies in the excess crude account, sovereign wealth funds and foreign reserves all became ambulant....
And walked away!
The erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank had confirmed that tens of billions in dollars of our money simply grew legs and strolled away into private pockets....also needful of clarifications by Jona! Surely, not this tirade....
It is good to "build institutions"....but not an excuse to support thievery....and shield thieves!
And which institutions have Jona built....or is building?
With the economy in shambles, interest rates skyrocketing, banks not lending, almost every graduate out of work.....electricity, health, housing, education, roads, water and every other infrastructure in shambles, which institutions is Jona talking about?!
The civil service, the military, the paramilitary services, other security services including the police, the secret service, EFCC and ICPC are in tatters!
The criminal justice system including the judiciary and legislature are in a total mess....with the latter awarding to its members the highest parliamentary salaries in the world!
All messing up because they can only imbibe the bad examples of the "rotten head"! Especially now that that head is so bent on shielding them from justice!
The entire world knows that the Jona regime suffers from endemic corruption....
Thank God Jona by his speech at the TBS on the 7th of January 2015, admits the fact of corruption in his land....
My real worry is his strange method of "fighting" it !
Prior to this time, I couldn't really decide on the better choice between Buhari and Jona....as I likened such to choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea....
Now that Mr President has confirmed that he is actually shielding the thieves in his government from justice, my choice is much easier....and clear!
His tirade was an admission of guilt!
