Dukelands Wrestles Gbajabiamila At Crescent Varsity Competition

The 2014 edition of annual football competition of Crescent University, Abeokuta was won by Dukelands team by two goals to nill over Gbajabiamila team. The two teams emerged from members of staff of the university community

The competition was organised by the wife of the founder of the institution, Alhaja Amatullahi Olaitan Ajibola who used the auspicious event to commemorate her birthday. Gbajabiamila team represented the vice chancellor's team while Dukelands team represented the 'birthday girl's team'.

The highly competitive match saw the two teams lose several scoring chances in both halves. However, jersey number 10, Taiwo Akanni scored the two goals for Dukelands, in 15 minutes and 60 minutes respectively.

In other events involving the students, College of Information and Communication technology (CICOT) team lifted the trophy in a final match against Adesina team on penalty aggregates of 5-4.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Gbajabiamila praised the teams for observing a fair-play and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The student highest goal scorer prize went to Yekeen Ekundayo of College of Information and Communication Technology.
