Nigerian security officials early Saturday morning seized a military transport aircraft which landed at Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

Military sources told Pointblanknews.com that the Russian-made Antonov aircraft took off from Bangui, capital of Central African Republic, and was headed for N'Djamena, capital of Chad.

From the 1970s, former French colony Central Africa Republic has been a theatre of violence and home to one of the longest rebel activities in Africa.

According to the sources, the aircraft was laden with several military hardware, including “two attack helicopters, three armoured tanks, one armoured Toyota Land cruiser, and lots of ammunition.”

There is a growing fear in military circles that the military hardware might end up with Boko Haram terrorists.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that all crew members are Russians, but that Nigerian military authorities “are not going to be fooled by their nationality.”

Said one source, “The plane is Russian, but took off from France, flies through Bangui and its final destination is Ndjamena. Isn't it the role of France here suspicious?”

He continued, “Our problem has basically been Chad supporting Boko Haram terrorists. Remember Mr. President has had cause to visit Chad several times to appeal to the president to stop supporting Boko Haram?

“France's mission in Nigeria is sinister. See how they groomed Cameroon to frustrate Nigeria during the Bakassi controversy and in the fight on Boko Haram,” he added
