BORNO LAWMAKER URGES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO PASS A BILL TO ALLOW IDPsVOTE IN CAMPS

The Member representing Gwoza at the Borno state House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Jaha who is also aspiring to represent Damboa, Chibok and Gwoza Federal constituency at the National Assembly on the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC has called on the members of the National Assembly to pass a Bill before them seeking to allow Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) to vote in their respective camps during the 2015 General Elections.

Usman Jaha who made the call in Maiduguri said Gwoza

Local government area is the most affected local government area in Nigeria that was hit by the Boko Haram crisis and called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to recapture the town from the control of Boko Haram.

It could be recalled that Gwoza Local Government and other areas in parts of Borno,Adamawa and Yobe states have been captured by the Boko Haram insurgents and have been under their control for a long time.

He said “currently there is a Bill before the National Assembly seeking to allow IDPs vote in their respective camps. We hope and pray that the bill will be passed, so that our people will not be disenfranchised.”

The member commended the Adamawa state government for assisting the IDPs from Gwoza who fled their areas and were camped camped in Uba, Yola and Mubi before they were relocated to Maiduguri.

“I also want to commend Governor Kashim Shettima and the Borno state government for catering for the displaced people of Gwoza since they were camped in Maiduguri". Jaha stated.
