A group, New Taraba Movement has given graphic details on how Alhaji Garba Umar allegedly looted the deputy governor's lodge, Abuja, hours after he was ousted by the Supreme Court.

According to the group, Umar carted away valuable and not-so valuable items, including plates and spoons to his private house in Gombe.

“Garba Umar, the ousted ruler of Taraba, has stolen almost all the properties at the government lodge in Abuja. They have been moved to his private quarters in Gombe,” alleged the group.”

Continued the group, “Carting away even plates and spoons, the dethroned Maximum Ruler of Taraba State Umar, has helped himself with almost everything he can find in the Deputy Governor's lodge in Abuja.

“Located in the posh area of Wuse 2, the property is now a shadow of its former self due to the intense vandalism,” the group stated.

According to a statement by the group's coordinator, Mr. Isaac Audu, aside “old furniture, books and some newspapers, the mansion is now bare.

“Umar on Friday night sent (Toyota) Hilux vehicles to the property to move away any item of worth they can find.

“Our worry is that if the property in Abuja could be this wantonly cleaned out, what must have happened in Jalingo, the state capital,” lamented Audu.

He urged the “Phillip Duwe committee to vigorously explore this issue. Umar must be made to return everything he has stolen,” stressing, “our laws do not allow for public office holders to steal off government properties when they are leaving office.

“In his case, Umar was even an illegal occupant of that office.., observed the Movement, pleading that “he must not be allowed to get away with the theft.”

Neither Kefas Sule, erstwhile Chief Press Secretary nor Director-General of the Umar Campaign Organization, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf could be reached for comments as their telephone lines were switched off.
