EDO NORTH 2015: IT IS THE TURN OF ETSAKO – ALIMIKHENA.

By BENJAMIN ATU

As the epic race on who represent Edo North senatorial district draw near, a former army officer Barr. Francis Alimikhena has express confidence that he is the next senator to represent the Edo North senatorial district. Senator Alimikhena stated this in Etsako East local government area after a brief dinner with all elected councillors of the APC from the senatorial district.

According to the former army officer, the people of Etsako have patiently waited and tolerated all the neglect and purposeless leadership. Now is our time. It is a dawn of a new era. I will set the standard and attract federal attention to this area. I know the need if my people. Regular town hall meetings will be organised for frequent interaction which will form the basis of my discourse at the floor of the house. I am going to the senate as a sent servant. I will talk in the collective voice of the Edo North people. I will give my people effective representation free from segregation and selfishness. The youth will be empowered, the women will be carried along and be given their pride of place as our mothers. Hailing cottage industries will be re invigoratede and while skill acquisition center will be established. The people of Etsako will not sale their birthright for deceit and bitterness, or politics of cash and carry this time. Etsako is not deficient of human resources. We can speak for ourselves as an ethnic nationality. Why must Owan and Akoko-Edo be the only people going to the senate? For peace to rain we must respect the zoning arrangement. It is the turn of Etsako according to zoning and I am the favoured candidate by the help of God.

On the recent endorsement of prof. Julius Ihonvbere by the Owan people and the hope of the incumbent senator Obende Domingo to return to the senate, Barr. Alimikhena said”all of them are not a threat at all. In this type of contest your pedigree speaks for you. It is not just cash and carry affair. Take example of our governor. Adams Oshiomhole le did not struggle to be a governor. The people called him, fought for him and made him the governor. APC will continue to cherish and build upon the good foundation our governor has laid. My chances are bright because Etsako people will resist this oppression this time. All we need to do is to shun politics of violence and election rigging. Once this atmosphere is created then I am the next senator to represent Edo North. I am familiar with the people and their support for me is over whelming.

Speaking on the recent adoption of his candidacy by the 32 elected councilors from the three Etsako local government areas for the senate on the platform of the All progressive congress (APC) Barr. Alimikhena mention senator victor Oyofo as the last Etsako politician to represent Edo North in the senate. Senator Yisa Braimoh from Owan succeeded him. He was in the senate between 2007 – 2011. Now senator Obende from Akoko-Edo was elected till date. The action of the councillors is a unify plead to the party executive, to continue the current trend of zoning. It is beyond a vote of confidence on me but a plead for our right.
