National Assembly Shut Down, As Lawmakers Scale Fence To Gain Entry

The Senate President, David Mark, has ordered that the National Assembly

complex be shut down till next week Tuesday, 25th November, 2014. This was

as a result of the confusion that engulfed the complex earlier today.

This is even as embattled Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal was denied entry into

the Assembly complex while hundreds of others who accompanied him scaled

the fence of the Assembly complex to gain entry.
They were however tear gassed by security operatives who cordoned the area.

Trouble started at about 10.54am when the Speaker arrived. After much

entreaties, security operatives allowed the Speaker entry into the

Assembly complex but denied other lawmakers.
The lawmakers who protested the actions of the security operatives decided

to scale the fence. Some sustained various degrees of injuries. The

actions of the lawmakers prompted security operatives to shoot tear gas

canisters and then cordoned the area.
The speaker's official car was detained but after his entry into the outer

space of the complex.
The Deputy Sepeakr, Emeka Ihedioha arrived earlier at about 10.30am.
