Sahara Reporters Used By The APC To Negate Journalism By Onyeka Emeka

 
Going back the memory lane, back in the glorious days of journalism

when the profession was undertaken by men of hue and of esteem

nobility whom used journalism to enlighten the people by imparting to

make an impact and as a medium and opportunity to fight the

imperialist colonial government in the general interest of the masses

against social injustice, economic and political subjugation and even

continued in the neo-colonial era against indigenous rule which was

characterised by the colonial nature.
One of such was the West African Pilot founded in 1937 by Nnamdi

Azikiwe whom used the paper as a vehicle to foster Nigerian

nationalism.
Similarly, The Nigerian Tribune was founded by Obafemi Awolowo in 1949

and the paper also played an important role in defending the interest

of the people against imperialism and so did Anthony Enahoro

contribute his quota in the days of sagacious journalism.

Technically speaking, journalism was and yet is a noble profession and

by its true nature ought to be neutral in news report by eliminating

sensationalism and imparting the most objectively verifiable news and

information.
Junk Journalism
Reading the despicable gibberish published online on daily basis by

Sahara Reporters aimed at deceiving the gullible minds and instigating

them against president Jonathan and to portray him as incompetent,

makes my spirit go berserk.
It is no longer a news that Sahara Reporters has thrown the ethics of

journalism to the dogs and has decided to bridge the huge lacuna

between journalism and sensationalism. All I see in its news are:

gibberish, bias, absolute lack of sagacity, insensitivity,

sectionalism and sensationalism. Therefore, there's no doubt that all

the 'journal mockery' gestures exhibited by Sahara Reporters are

imaginary attics demonstrated by some set of nitwits that are robustly

bankrolled by some frivolous figures in high places who are desperate

to take over power from Jonathan yet without any clear cut policy

agenda.
Sowore is confidently basking in rascality with seemingly strong mind

which spurred him to feel he can engage Jonathan at bicker simply

because APC has offered him the sum he hasn't received in his entire

life.
However, a child that refuses to hearken to the admonition of the

elders, and or insists on dancing the 'Surugede dance' is

incontrovertibly oblivious of the consequences.
Unintended Out Come Of APC's Propaganda
Economically speaking, unintended out come of any policy or undertaken

are those losses or benefits emanating from such.
In relation to the above, therefore; the unintended out come of APC's

cheap blackmail is winning Jonathan more sympathy by day. Nigerians

are no fools, we are at information age. People get information from

various sources and apply their senses of judgements. Sahara Reports

is one of the least and far less influential media and thus, lack the

capacity to achieve it aims against Jonathan as required by its pay

masters. In all, the reverse is the case as people are fully aware of

those behind the oddities against Jonathan's administration and of

course, Boko Haram.
Sahara Reporters in most recent times has become more of Boko Haram's

mouth piece, reporting their carnage even before they unleash.

Personally, I'm non-partisan but seeing this barbaric manner of

opposition, I have no option than to be conventionally sagacious and

I'm sure that right thinking Nigerians do alike.
