Obiano’s Support for President Jonathan is unequivocal

By James Eze

Our attention has been drawn to a story in the November 9, 2014 edition of The Niche newspaper with the title - “Obiano's friendship with Amechi Ruffles Aso Rock,” claiming that Obiano is “fraternizing with a political adversary of Mr. President.”

We wish to categorically declare that this story and any other such story making a futile attempt to link Governor Obiano with Mr. President's political enemies is a blatant lie. There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Governor Obiano has been granting audience to a certain Gozie Nwankwo who the story identified as the brother in-law of a political adversary of Mr. President. The fact is that Governor Obiano has never held any discussion with Mr. Nwankwo before.

Since his inauguration as the governor of Anambra State, Chief Obiano has enjoyed the support and friendship of Mr. President who has shown confidence in his ability to present quality leadership to Ndi Anambra. It is totally inconceivable for Governor Obiano to willfully engage in any activity that will make anyone doubt his loyalty to Mr. President.

It may also be necessary to re-emphasize that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which Governor Obiano currently presides over as Leader and BOT Chairman has long adopted President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as its candidate for the 2015 Presidential Elections while maintaining its resolve to field candidates and contest all other posts in the elections. This truism also eliminates all doubts about Governor Obiano's loyalty to Mr. President.

We are aware of the desperate efforts being made in some camps to force a wedge between Governor Obiano and Mr. President. These efforts have taken different shapes and forms in the last few months but we have not lost faith in the ultimate triumph of truth over falsehood in due season.

Seven months on, Governor Obiano has bluntly refused to be distracted from his commitment to building a strong and prosperous State that Ndi Anambra can be proud of. And he is currently succeeding on this mission with his great achievements in securing state which has in turn flung open the floodgate of investments into Anambra state.
