Gov Ahmed wins Businessday Best Governor Award for youths, sport dev

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State says he remains committed to promoting the development of youth whom he described as the ‘nation’s most vital and vibrant resource’. Speaking following his emergence as Best Governor in Youth and Sports Development at the 2014 BusinessDay Good Governance and States Competitiveness Award held in Lagos, Governor Ahmed said his remains committed to developing Kwara youths since they are vital to current and future development based on their population and potential as future leaders. He said this realization explains his strong commitment to youth development through provision of employment, entrepreneurship and vocational tradition. Dedicating the award to Kwara Youths, Ahmed thanked the organisers of the awards for the recognition conferred on him and pledged to do more for all in Kwara State. According to him, youth empowerment remains at the core of his administration’s programmes, promising to roll out new initiatives to engage and train more youths in the state. He called on governments at all levels to continue to create opportunities for the gainful employment of the country’s youths so that the social problems of unemployment does not escalate into a security issue.
