TCN Moves To Deploy Maintenance Crew To Uyo

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Power, Dr. Victor Udo has announced plans by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to deploy maintenance crew to Uyo.

Speaking recently at the power sector stakeholders meeting held in his office, Dr. Udo said “when this is crew is deployed to Uyo, faults detected along transmission linesand substations will be resolved speedily.”

He added that “currently, when faults occur along transmission lines, TCN has to deploy their staff from the workstation at Calabarto Uyo and that takes a lot of time.”

Speaking further, he said “faults on transmission lines that ought to be resolved within a short time, take much longer to be resolved because there is no standby maintenance crew in Uyo.”

The SSAstated that the decision was reached during his meeting with the Chief Executives of National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Meanwhile,the SSA on Power who doubles as the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company (IPC) has offered explanation to the current power situation in the State.

He said “the power availability in the State reduced in recent times because Ibom power plant had to be shut down during Septa Energy's capacity expansion.”

He however mentioned that “though Septa Energy is through with the expansion, Ibom power plant has a technical issue that is currently being resolved.”

The Ibom Power Boss said “once this issue is resolved, Ibom power plant will be back on stream and more power will be available for consumption across the State.”
