'I Was Motivated by a Past Valedictorian"-Crescent Best Graduating Student

The best graduating student at Crescent University, Abeokuta, for the 2013/2014 academic session, Ibrahim Ayoola Olatunde has unveiled the reason behind his success as the valedictorian of the institution.

Olatunde who led 247 others to emerge the best graduating student from Computer Science of the College of Information and Communication Sciences (CICOT) said he determined to take the prize when he witnessed the 2010 best graduating student who was a female, positing that if a female student could bag the award, he could also develop himself to achieve the same feat.

He appealed to the federal government to come to the aid of private universities in Nigeria since they contribute in no small measure to the human and capital development of the country.

Olatunde advised that since the large chunk of taxes come from the private sector, government should allow them access to Tertiary Education Tax Fund (TETFUND) for improved service delivery.

The 23-year old Olatunde emphasized that living within the school with only three exeats in a month had encouraged him in management of resources especially his time to be able to face his studies squarely.

Ibrahim Olatunde who said he preferred reading in a well ventilated environment and during the day buttressed he never read in the night because he detested nocturnal reading.

On his relationship with God and fellow humans, he said "My relationship with other people is so good that I think I consider other people before myself once it's not going to cost me anything" buttressing that he abided with Allah's injunctions and performed his prayers five times daily.

Olatunde also expressed his satisfaction with the institution's graduates already working high places, citing Eisalat, MTN and Dangote Group where his predecessors were already making waves.

He said "although we may be comparing Crescent University with others in terms of education, we can never do such when it comes to character."He noted that the vision of the Proprietor, Judge Bola Ajibola on building character with education would make the next generation a blessed one.
