Market Women Urge Support For Fayose

By Lere Olayinka

Market women in Ekiti State under the aegis of Council of Iyalojas and Iyalajes in Ekiti State has described those opposing the assumption of office of the State Governor-Elect, Dr Ayodele Fayose as selfish, saying; "Having been overwhelmingly elected by Ekiti people, what all lovers of peace in the State should do is to pray for the success of his (Fayose) administration."

Speaking through the Iyaloja of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs.) Bisi Okunmolale, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the market women said they were solidly behind the governor-elect, noting that no right thinking Ekiti indigene should do anything against the popular which of the people.

They maintained that the popular wish of people of the State expressed during the June 21, 2014 governorship election must be respected, urging those running from one court to another, trying to scuttle the wish of Ekiti people to accept the peoples' decision.

“As we all look forward to the assumption of office Dr Ayodele Fayose, the man popularly elected by Ekiti people, we wish to plead with politicians in the State, especially those sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to refrain from any action capable of throwing the State into chaos.

“It is our position that anyone or group attempting to subvert the mandate freely given to the governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose will be standing against the people of Ekiti.

"Fayose is our choice and we are sure that he will meet our yearning, and improve on the living standard of Ekiti people during his tenure.

"We therefore urge Ekiti people to keep supporting Fayose as they have been doing and keep praying for the success of the governor when he assumes office on Thursday," Mrs Okunmolale said.
