Is SK really OK ?

By Fodio Ahmad (Mai Gemu)

Fodio Mai Gemu activates his thinking mode towards responsive legislative representation. My encounter with Labaran SK was conceived when I was serving as an Administrative Officer to Comrade Shehu Idris, the state Chairman of Northern Youth Assembly, Niger State Chapter in 2012. Actually it was more of a coaching period, Shehu Idris became my first family of non blood lineage when I moved in to Minna immediately after the fuel subsidy buhaha. Comrade Shehu Idris was a catalyst to my meeting with the former commissioner of information, presently the Commissioner of education, Hon. Abdulhameed Tanbarin Kagara. How can I forget how he coins a YOUTH "For me, a Youth is that person who is always ready to contribute his quota towards societal growth and development without seeing age as a barrier" he affirms. Mai Basira,When he was with the Niger State Development Company among others.

As a passionate growing writer, SK who happens to be the spoke persons of the organization has this oratory magic that got me attracted to him. He has displayed such act many a times, but the three times out of that many is when we paid Barrister Adamu Usman, the speaker Niger State House of Assembly a courtesy visit at the Jikantoro Quarters, when Northern Stakeholders converge at the famous Arewa House at Kaduna in January 2013, which I was privileged to be part of team Niger and when the state chapter of the Northern Youth Assembly hosted a consultative forum at the Abdulsalam Abubakar Youth Centre, Minna.

SK in the above three memorable gathering looks like he bakes and sell his command of language iced up with reputable charismatic demonstration, then I remembered the words of Devasia "some possible acts of service bring inspiration to where there is ignorance. Bring understanding to where there is hatred. Bring joy where there is sadness. Bring courage where there is fear" which I can confidently see in SK.

Surprise could not dance on my mind when my eye balls sparks on SK's poster vying for the member Niger state house of Assembly representing Chanchaga, knowing that he has always inject himself into the vein of quest to serve and influence changes to the benefit of a commoner.

A very principled public servant. During his days at the university, he served as a Senator, rising to become the parliamentary Secretary SUG BUK. A Legislative aide at the National Assembly between 2007-2011, a seasoned lecturer at the Niger State College of Education. SK was also a one time SSA to the chief servant. Dear Chanchaga, allow me share with you the words of JK Rowling, he said "Our choices show what we truly are for more than our abilities do" just what I am trying to say is there comes very important times in a person's life when responsibility is not an option but a must. Chanchaga, I think time to stop sending bench warmers to the state house of Assembly is long due And when I asked is 'SK REALLY OK' I realised the life of man solely depends on the choice he makes and from my series of conversation with the electorates of Chanchaga many of which affirmed that "SK is indeed very OK"
