The Synagogue Tragedy: Collapse by Controlled Demolition or Structural Defect?

On Friday September 12, 2014, a guesthouse in the premises of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations, in Ikotun, Lagos collapsed with scores reported dead and many others trapped after a strange aircraft flew low multiple times over the building.

So far, founder of the church, Prophet TB Joshua, has confirmed that, most of the dead bodies recovered and the injured rescued from the debris of the collapse are South Africans.

Since the accident, which the prophet described as “The Greatest Persecution” his church has suffered since its inception, the man of God has been mourning with families of those who lost their lives in that unfortunate event. He has also sent out delegations to visit survivors of the September 12 attack and bereaved families and offer material, spiritual and moral support.

But this guesthouse collapse, resulting in the death of people, mostly foreign nationals who visited the SCOAN for healing, breakthrough and other helps from Jesus Christ through the prophet, has caught international attention and prompted many to ask varied questions.

Prominent among the questions are; was the collapse caused by a controlled demolition or structural defect?

The response from African Newsman after conducting series of research is; yes! We strongly believe that the building crumbled under controlled demolition conspiracy. Thanks to wikipedia.org for the following

explanation:
Controlled Demolition - Large buildings, tall chimneys, smokestacks, and increasingly some smaller structures may be destroyed by building implosion using explosives. Imploding a building is very fast — the collapse itself only takes seconds — and an expert can ensure that the building falls into its own footprint, so as not to damage neighboring structures. This is essential for tall structures in dense urban areas.

African Newsman insists it is the above method that was used to collapse the SCOAN guesthouse. Anyone who visits the site of the collapsed building or takes a look at how the accident occurred as captured on CCTV cameras of the church will concur with our suggestion.

Structural Defect - Structural failure refers to the loss of structural integrity, which is the loss of the load-carrying capacity of a component or member within a structure, or of the structure itself. Structural failure is initiated when the material is stressed to its strength limit, thus causing fracture or excessive deformations. In a well-designed system, a localized failure should not cause immediate or even progressive collapse of the entire structure. Ultimate failure strength is one of the limit states that must be accounted for in structural engineering and structural design.

We at African Newsman, hereby disagrees with those who claim the guesthouse that housed visitors to the SCOAN, mainly foreign nationals, pulverized as a result of structural defect.

The SCOAN guesthouse collapse was purely an attack by the enemy. This is a church which undertakes humanitarian services all over the world – they build houses for people displaced by fire outbreak or flood or storm, give food to the hungry and scholarship to the needy. So, why would any right thinking person allege that such a rich church with millions of partners across the world could build its own house on a weaker foundation? This is absolutely unacceptable.

We at African Newsman have confidence in the team of experts undertaking investigations into the accident and hope that they will be able to unravel the circumstances leading to the destruction and death of scores of people.
