SAN FRANCISCO, October 01, (THEWILL) - A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant for Benue South Senatorial zone, Chief Mike Onoja, has faulted the purported adoption of the Senate President, David Mark, as the sole candidate for the zone by some elders of the party.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Director-General of his campaign organisation, Mr. Ameh Udoh, Onoja said that the adoption was aimed at compelling delegates to vote for a particular candidate.

“The said exercise is seemingly designed to coerce delegates to favour a particular candidate who is perhaps apprehensive of election, ” the statement said.

According to the statement , the said adoption was laughable because delegates who will elect a candidate for the party are yet to be nominated.

Onoja stressed that there are more than one candidate in the zone of which he was one of them.

He maintained that it is on record that the PDP national secretariat had warned state chapters to desist from adopting any aspirant as sole candidate for any elective position.

He however enjoined his supporters to resist any temptation of defecting to other parties because of the purported adoption.
