REALITY CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION SENSITIZES NIGERIANS FOR JONATHAN/SAMBO RE-ELECTION
…ENGAGES IN YOUTHS TRAINING AND CAMPAIGN AGAINST ELECTION VIOLENCE
Contented with the far reaching dividends of democracy posted by the President Goodluck Jonathan's administration through his transformation agenda, a frontline socio political and empowerment group in the country, Reality Campaign Organization of Nigeria, RECOON, has joined the retinue of solidarity for Mr. President by endorsing the President Jonathan/Sambo pair for re-election come 2015.
The group whose major objective among other things is to enhance and harness the leadership giants embedded in humans are also in the business of entrenching in the mindset of the populace the great dividends of democracy that lies in good leadership.
Speaking to a cross section of newsmen during a media parley in Port Harcourt, the national Chairman of the group, Mr. Kennedy O. Kennedy said the vision of the group is to add value to humanity by instigating and delivering good governance to all and sundry. According to him Reality Campaign Organization of Nigeria, RECOON maintains co-operation with all political parties and also acknowledges and recognizes individuals and professional bodies as well as Non Governmental Organizations with similar vision.
Kennedy explained that RECOON is a national organization established in 2013 with offices in the 36 states of the federation, he said the group also have structural organogram in every state, LGA and wards in the country with membership strength of 500 per LGA, adding that the doors of the group are wide open for new intending members.
The RECOON National Chairman noted that part of the organization strides in which they have achieved major success is the sensitization of Nigeria youths to ensure that they mobilize for credible candidates that will lead the country to the promise land and out of the shackles of colonialism and insensitive government, this according to him accounts for why RECOON is wholly in support of President Jonathan for what he has been able to achieve and enthrone in the country. He said the Jonathan administration has been phenomenal in both infrastructural and human capacity development saying his group intends to sustain the campaign to ensure that successive government continue in the same well articulated leadership ideals that President Jonathan has instituted which undoubtedly has continued to add value to Nigerians.
Speaking about some of the robust strides of the organization the RECOON national chairman explained that the group has trained 15 persons in pipeline welding throughout the federation. Similarly, in order to support the educational ideals of President Goodluck Jonathan, the group has initiated the RECOON/Jonathan Education Support Programme currently running with the objective of training members on ICT to further increase employment chances, and has single handedly funded education to encourage Nigerians within the organizational lean resources.
“RECOON intends to give out free JAMB forms to intending students in the next few months throughout the federation. RECOON has also taken up the responsibility of sensitizing the youth on peaceful existence during and after elections ensuring zero tolerance for election rigging, violence and all manner of irregularities”, he was quoted as saying. The group is said to have given employment opportunities to over 6800 youths across the federation and still counting.
Kennedy disclosed that RECOON is currently discussing with some multinational technological companies on training youths under its transfer of technology policy. He said RECOON has not received any support from any politician as every project carried out in RECOON has been financed solely through the self help efforts of its public spirited members.
He concluded by saying that his group was about the first that threw their weight behind the president Jonathan administration, urging it to declare its intention to run for re-election because they believe he has done exceptionally well.
