A former Lagos State Accountant General and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has noted that he will continue the developmental strides of his predecessors if elected as the governor of the state in 2015.

Ambode, who gave the assurance last two weeks during the inauguration of his Gbagada, Lagos campaign office and of the steering committee of the Akinwumi Ambode Campaign Organisation (AAMCO), also vowed to run a people-oriented government that would impact on all Lagosians.

“The irreversible foundation laid by Senator Bola Tinubu and continued by Governor Babatunde Fashola will be continued by me and I want to create a new level of leadership that challenges the status quo and tackles poverty,” he said.

He however enjoined members of the campaign committee to work extra hard to secure his victory at the APC primary, which is a pre-condition for any governorship aspirant to contest an election.

“To win the primary requires hardwork. Committee members in all the local governments will go back to work. And I can assure you that we will never shove anyone aside if we win the election, we will go to all the nooks and crannies of the society to identify what the people want,” he noted.

Ambode whose aspiration and seeming support from party bigwigs has been generating concern among other aspirants, warned his supporters to eschew violence and abuses on other aspirants, saying in the long run whoever wins the primaries would still need the support of others to win the governorship election.
