Lagos Public, Private Schools To Resume On October 8 – Fashola

BEVERLY HILLS, September 21, (THEWILL) - Public and private schools will now reopen on October 8, 2014, according to state Governor Babatunde Fashola.

The new date was approved at a meeting with school heads, tutors, stakeholders held on Sunday at Lagos Television Blue Roof, Agindigbi, Ikeja.

Addressing hundreds of teachers of Lagos schools, Principals, Vice-Principals, Tutors, Head Teachers as well as Executive members of the State's Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers and other education stakeholders, Fashola reiterated that the Ebola Virus Disease has been contained in the State and there was no need for fear.

The main teachers union had kicked against the Monday, September 22, 2014 resumption date set by the federal government after declaring that the deadly Ebola disease had been completely eradicated in Nigeria.

The Governor said the extension would allow government enough time to distribute personal hygiene and other preventive materials against Ebola infection in all the schools.
