—————-As Benue South wants him again.
President of the Senate , Senator David Mark has told his constituents to remain steadfast with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2015 general elections, just as he assured them ” I will make my intention known when the time comes”.

Addressing youth leaders from Ado Local Government Area in his Otukpo country home, Benue State , today, Senator Mark said he was yet to declare his intention but would make his decision known in due course, after due consultation with various stakeholders, and in accordance with the PDP's guideline.

The youth leaders had besieged Senator Mark today,( Sunday ) asking him to contest for the Benue South Senatorial seat in 2015 because,as far as they were concerned, he remained the choice of the Idoma nation for the seat.

However, the Senate President told his anxious people, ” I appreciate your interest in me; but I have not declared my interest or intention to contest yet. I will make my intention known to you when the time comes.

“I assure you that what ever decision I take will be in the over all interest of the Idoma people. I have nothing personal but any thing that will make our society better and ultimately promote the security and well-being of all will be my mission and purpose”.

He reiterated that the agitation for State creation was not foreclosed assuring, ” God's willing , I will pursue the creation of Apa State from the present Benue State to the logical conclusion.”

Senator Mark urged them to remain law abiding , maintaining peaceful co-existence and unity amongst them.

Earlier, leader of the youths, Ogenyi Ocheme praised the Senate President for attracting development to the Idoma nation, saying ” It may not be your intention to contest this election but the desire of every resonable Idoma man and woman is that you return to the Senate in 2015.

“Your remarkable performance in the Senate gives us a sense of pride and it is our desire that you return to the Senate to continue to bring honour and development to us. Your impressive efforts towards creation of our dream State- Apa,is well appreciated.

“We appreciate that in a democracy, unlike in a military government, no State can be created by fiat, but through a strenous process; and so far, you have done very well, even in that process. We have no other person to contest the election except Senator David Mark. This is our stand”.

Signed:
Paul Mumeh, Chief Press Secretary to the President of the Senate.
