Boko Haram Abducts Dozens Of Women, Children In Northern Nigerian State

SAN FRANCISCO, September 14, (THEWILL) - Dozens of women and children have been abducted from Gulak and Michika in Adamawa State by the Boko Haram, a terrorist group operating in northern Nigeria that is also behind the abduction of female school girls from Chibok, Borno State.

Security sources in the area also told THEWILL that Boko Haram fighters have also forcefully recruited young men as fighters from communities in the local governments where the troops and Boko Haram fighters have clashed.

The abductions were carried out over the weekend, the sources that opted to remain anonymous said because they are not authorized to speak on the matter.

The Nigerian military has stepped up its assault on Boko Haram positions in both Borno and Adamawa States where the group had taken some towns. Troops have recorded significant successes lately and have retaken most of the towns while dozens of Boko Haram fighters were killed and their weapons seized.

The military over the weekend declared an Air Force plane on a routine surveillance mission missing and said it had deployed search and rescue operations.

The radical Islamic sect says it wants to establish an Islamic Caliphate in Northern Nigeria and vowed to continue fighting until it accomplishes its goal.
