‎FIFA rejects Giwa as NFF boss

The FIFA on Friday said it has not recognised the election of the chairman of Giwa FC of Jos, Chris Giwa.

This position was contained in a letter from FIFA signed by‎ FIFA's scribe, Jerome Valcke.

Giwa was elected amidst protest from some stake holders, one being the Delta FA which described his election as an illegality.

The Delta FA and others opposed to Giwa argued that the election contravened the statutes of the FIFA and NFF, which says elections can only hold in an elective congress and not extra ordinary General Assembly, which was what the congress that threw up Giwa was termed.

Below is the letter from FIFA
As a consequence, we will not recognise the outcome of the above mentioned elections and should there still be persons claiming to have been elected and occupying the NFF offices at midnight on Monday 1 September 2014, we will bring the case to the appropriate FIFA body for sanctions, which may include the suspension of the NFF.

We ask you to inform all parties concerned accordingly and we thank you in advance for keeping us informed of any developments in the situation.

In particular, we would like you to confirm that the date of 4 September 2014 will be met because the timing seems very short”.

Yours sincerely,
FIFA
Jérôme Valcke
Secretary General
