A Random Calculation: Rest In Peace In Advance
“The great man leaves clean work behind him and requires no sweeper up of the chips” Elizabeth Browning. I keep asking if the 2015 general elections is actually the end of a region like ours. The most worrisome question is “WHY SHOULD JONATHAN ACT TOO STUPID TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NORTHERN SEMI-CIVIL WAR”?
Before I answer my question, it is important I say this “dear average and common Nigerian northerner, always be at the right place doing the right thing because the next bomb blast might just consume you, just like it did to a mentor and friend Bisalla Suleiman (RIP), as it is a random calculation. Since the system is sick, I say 'Rest in Peace in Advance' to myself and you.
Now to my worrisome question, crucify me if you like or even call me an unpatriotic Nigerian northerner, but the present northern Nigerian problem is navigated by northern Nigerian elites. If it is not, then why on earth will they make us believe that Nigerian northerners are born to handle the saddle of Nigerian leadership, when we are the least educated ? Leadership is from God, he chooses who he desires to rule. When did you, who asserts that Nigeria must be led by a Nigerian northerner have an agreement with God on your assertion ?
The Nigerian northern elitism is the most complicated, yet confusing one thus, our lives from behind us are set for leadership blackmails against 2015.
As a common Nigerian northerner that I find myself, i have noticed that we have some of the biggest bulls 'cash wise' but how many private universities do we have in northern Nigeria ? How many of their companies operate from northern Nigerian axis ? How much of their investments is buried in the Northern Nigerian stomach ?
Is Aliko Dangote not an indigene of Kano state? When did it become a taboo to build a private University in your state asides the one tomatoes processing company you have refused to finish building? The whole world knows Niger State has two living past Nigerian Presidents, Yea ! We have and congratulations to us.
Like the CAN President who decided to build a private university, can't our own SARKIN MUSULMI the Sultan of Sokoto secure a land to build his own private university ? How many of them are into commercial farming asides private farms for pleasure like the one on Mandela road within Minna?
Fortunately or not, it is the same Nigerian northerners who decided to abandon agriculture who now control some of the biggest OIL RINGS in the country. Yet, we are the first to criticize whatever happens. This is why I am proud of the almighty Accidental Public Servant ( Mallam Nasiru El Rufai) plus I also see our own Sam on the JONATHANIAN quest of lack of critical thinking. Thank you both, I mean Mallam Nasiru and Sam, but they say CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME and a man must lay examples which must influence the people.
Should I not give you an insight of a northern Nigerian NGO? One which was designed to cut down the youth restiveness of the Northern Nigerian youths and receives funds from Easterners but what happened ? These huge sums of money was diverted privately and comfortably by a Nigerian Northerner. I am not disputing the fact that all men must succeed, but at least the one man that must first succeed should leave positive examples for the forthcoming to follow.
To those northern Nigerian politicians who often act like prostitutes on the road side available to whoever's willing to puke cash, remember the philosophical words of Mark Tivian that opined “Let us live so that when we come to die, even the undertaker will be sorry”.
Please,our lives are not collaterals, Mr. Power Monger, since we have accepted to leave on abject poverty without any sort of livelihood improvement ; I think we deserve to stay alive at least. Since you have successfully injected the spirit of a fowl and the rain of grains as our basis of true testimony of DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY, kindly create us an enabling and convenient environment to nurture our Hustle and Bustle as we promise not to become so successful as to attain the status of your children.
Really, what represents our large thinking as Nigerian northerners is squeezed on the throat by our brothers directly or indirectly. I mean even if the master plan was designed by any other region, I am certain it is executed by us, after receiving orders from us.
The rate at which lives are being blended like tomatoes and pepper, in the long run, if we are not careful ALLAH YA KIYAYE (God forbid) this region shall live on echoes of history; until then REST IN PEACE IN ADVANCE.
