THE BRIGHT STAR IS DOWNED (For the late Prof. Dora Akunyili)
Our hearts are upon the confusing clouds
With our weary soles hermetically sealed
On the crossroads of the rain and the sun
Marking the light blown off by cold death
The sad news is a flaring acid in our skins
The dark heights mourn the downed star
With the interpersonal scar in our hearts
Our cold hats document the global agony
Our eyelashes are embedded rainforests
Enumerating their descending tear drops
For the light peaks interred in dark clouds
To season our sermon with the dry dirges
Our thoughts shall mark your bright tomb
To crush the dark that devoured your rays
Your gallant horse outruns our slow paces
To quench your thirst with the living water
Our lady airborne by the chariots of death
Letters and numbers embrace your legacy
Saying goodnight to you glorifies the dark
And a good morning humiliates huge light
