Governor Obiano Calls For Active Participation In Permanent Voter Registration, Drums Support For Jonathan

Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano has called on Anambra state electorates and those who have become eligible to participate actively in the coming distribution of permanent voter's card and continuous registration exercise from Friday this week, while also drumming support for President Jonathan. Governor Obiano was speaking on tour of some Local Government Areas including Onitsha, Ogbaru, Idemili South, and Dunukofia as part his appreciation tour to Ndi Anambra since his inauguration as governor.

Speaking at the various stops across the LGAs, Governor Obiano told the mammoth crowd who turned out in large numbers to welcome his entourage that the permanent voters Card would enable Ndi Anambra to participate in future elections. According to Obiano, “The Permanent Voters Card will empower you to be part of the process to entrench enduring democracy and tradition of good governance. The exercise also offers opportunity for those who have not registered and those who lost their cards as well as those who want to transfer their registration from other States to Anambra, to conclude the process.” The Governor also urged the people to continue to give his administration total support to deliver his vision.

In another development at Ogidi, Idemili North stop, Governor Obiano told the cheering crowd that Anambra State will continue to give total support to President Goodluck Jonathan because the President has demonstrated sincerity of purpose and total commitment to transform the country.

At Onitsha, the Deputy State Chairman of APGA, Mr. Ifeanyi Udokwu in his speech told the cheering crowd that APGA would continue to consolidate its stand in the State; while the Special Adviser to the Governor, Mrs. Anthony Tabansi Okoye noted that Governor Willie Obiano has achieved so much in a short time and brought to the fore burner areas hitherto neglected by previous administrations and urged the people to give him total support to deliver on his vision and mission for Ndi Anambra. In the same vein, the Chairman, Onitsha South, Mrs. Ann Chukwuneke expressed gratitude to the Governor for embarking on mass infrastructural development in the area.

In his reaction the President General of the Amalgamated Traders Association, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo assured that the traders in the State would reciprocate the Governor's kind gesture by giving APGA total support in the future elections, while another APGA stalwart Mr. Eloka Igwemezie observed that the Governor has created conducive atmosphere for business and investments to thrive through a strong security network, noting that night life has returned to Onitsha and other cities in the State .

Speaking at Ogbaru LGA, Governor Obiano urged the APGA members to remain firm and continue to work for the collective interest of the people, the party, and the state. The Governor also interacted with the physically challenged persons at the event, that APGA is growing from strength to strength.

Thanking the Governor for the visit, the Hon member representing Ogbaru1 constituency, Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir. Benson Nwawulu said that Governor Obiano has raised the bar of governance and maintained even distribution of democracy dividends to uplift the standard of living of the people and expressed confidence that more projects would soon be initiated in his constituency. On his part, Chairman, Ogbaru Local Government Council, Chief Victor Agolue said people of Anambra State will never regret their choice of Obiano for the Governor of the State, as he has redefined the meaning of governance in Anambra State.

Governor Willie Obiano reassured the people at Ojoto headquarters that rebuilding the human infrastructure will remain top priority of his administration. The Governor said the policies and programmes of his government were articulated to open fresh windows of opportunity and empower people properly to attain their full potential. He restated his determination to excel and bring pride to the people and APGA as a political party.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Mrs. Azuka Enemmuo told the gathering that the area has benefited a lot from APGA government and would receive more in coming days, urging the people to reciprocate by giving the government and APGA total support. She further commended the Governor for his vision and passion to turn around the State; while the traditional ruler of Alor, Igwe McAthony Okonkwo said the Governor has made remarkable impact in various sectors of the State and given all parts of the State a sense of belonging.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief Tony Onyima said the Governor has continued to improve human and physical infrastructure in line with his promises to the people, and enjoined the people to equip themselves properly for future elections by ensuring that they receive their Permanent Voters Card in the coming exercise from Friday this week. Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike said the Governor is on course to deliver his vision and has continued to fulfill promises made to the people.

Governor Obiano continues the tour of LGAs as part of his work schedule in the weeks ahead.
