The Selfless And Pure Hearted—Ambode
Attempts, measures and steps must be taken to separate politics from performance and this is the time for decisions, especially now the next gubernatorial poll in Lagos state is around the corner again. It is necessary to elect our leaders based on performance. The road map towards conducting an acceptable free and fair election and the emergence of a credible humble leader with clarity of vision for Lagosians in general, comes with camps of various political aspirants being agog with activities.
Like a jolt from the blues, the emergence of this iconic personality has shaken the camps of contending aspirants and their handlers indeed.
This pathfinder, front liner, astute financial resource manager and erudite humble scholar who is known for his selfless and pure hearted is definitely bound to irk most aspirants, goons, godfathers and strong holds masquerading as conventional politicians in the state. The icon is no other than Mr. Akinwunmi Ibidapo Ambode, simply described as the 'Selfless and pure hearted'.
It is obvious that these myopic political jobbers would stop at nothing less than mischief while attempting to arouse imaginary controversies and creating doubts in the minds of all who know him. Yet, his prowess, capability and ability as a leader and seasoned financial resource administrator single him out from the crowd.
This is not a surprise as one of the conventional politicians in Lagos State once asserted; ''… his ambition is like a jolt from the blues. We have people who have been around in the party for years. It is not good to leave such people and follow a new entrant who just left public service not quite long…''.
Indeed, the secret though is actually inside the decrepit little psyche of their perceived valuable asset of an absolutely invaluable interest brought into play by the acclaimed 'conventional politicians'. However these critics may see the “Selfless and pure hearted” with unequivocal characteristics, suitability, impeccable ambiance, and with an unspeakable edge over other 'conventional politicians', as a clog in their wheels of control & pursuit and an uncompromising personality without the wits of the “Conventional Politicians”. No wonder one of the Lagos State conventional Politicians once proclaimed “We should allow those who have been planning for this for long time to take the saddle…''.
He may be an ''Unconventional Politician'' but a man with an uncommon dexterity, classical charisma, polished countenance and grouse at righting the wrongs of our perceived conventional politicians and taking the Rights and their Dividends to the doorsteps of the electorates - Lagosians in general.
It is imperative to note that our own Governor, Babatunde Fashola was not a conventional politician at the very beginning but today, he is one with a difference, having the flair and craving as Ambode, for the repositioning and development of Lagos State as acknowledged by all. No wonder Governor Babatunde Fashola, National APC Leader, Elder Asiwaji Bola Tinubu, and Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos State saw the ability and capability of this Epe-born leader in taking the reins of leadership from him, while taking into cognizance the continuity of his developmental strides and taking this commercial hub of the nation to the desired next level.
Yes, he was a civil servant until recently but all trappings of leadership were trailing him very early in life. Also as a product of Federal Government College of Warri, the mentality of unity, confidence, boldness, respect, humility were given to him as a mark of leadership during his early youthful stage. Governor Babatunde Fashola, Elder Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and prominent elders of Lagos State see him as a visionary and a team player who cannot carry less in his administration.
However, if you recalled when the APC Leader, Elder Asiwaju Bola Tinubu chose Gov Babatude Fashola in 2007 to succeed him, it was met with stiff opposition but today, Tinubu has been justified. Now, the elders of APC and Lagos State in general see a similar character like Gove Fashola in Ambode
What do we say then about the words of our very own sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo? ''Politicians are not born BUT are made".
Selfless and pure hearted AMBODE's entry into the race, without doubts, will definitely send the opposition into oblivion and we political watch dogs sincerely hope that he will be given the opportunity to unveil and showcase what his wonderful packages and plans for Lagosians and Lagos state instead of these political sabre-rattling.
