Ebola Approximates Nigerian And Western Governments!

It was rather unwise for our government to be unprepared for Ebola Virus Disease while it was in nearby countries like Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone....considering our porous borders and the speed of air travel! It was in Central Africa for over three decades.....during which countless epidemics of the disease ravaged the Central African Republic, The Democratic Republic of Congo and even South Africa.

HIV pales in devastating significance to it as it kills about 90% of its victims in a matter of days....unlike decades in HIV infection! It almost certainly kills persons who progress beyond its initial stages......devastating to humans and other primates, but asymptomatic

in fruit bats, its main reservoir. Readily contagious on contact with sweat, blood, urine, semen and tears of victims....even their corpses.....with highest case fatalities among health workers!

Scrupulous hygiene and avoidance of contact with victims is required for its prevention. Suspected cases require quarantine. Avoidance of consumption of monkeys and bats as "bush meats" Barrier nursing is mandatory.

The US and Europe are no wiser....failing to make at least a vaccine for a disease discovered as far back as 1976, 38 years ago.....forgetting that their citizens are in Africa as diplomats and tourists!

That age-old adage still holds fast....that "you help others to help yourself.....and unhelp others to unhelp yourself"! And we wonder if these strange organisms were not a result of laboratory games by these unscrupulous nations as they try their hands on possible agents of bio-terror and bio-warfare! As for their near-absolute lack of concern in the Ebola matte, I can but just say: Only a stupid man would be nonchalant when his neighbour's house is on fire!
