By MOSOP Ogoniland

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has condemned Saturday's murder of a 25year old boy, Melubari Lunyie, in Bua-Yeghe community of Ogoniland describing it as a provocative action which could spark off an unimaginable crisis in the area.

In a statement signed by Chairman of the MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators Forum, Frank Jonah, MOSOP urged the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ogunshakin to immediately commence investigation into the incident.

Mr. Lunyie, a 25year old native of Bua-Yeghe in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State was returning home from a burial vigil on Saturday night when he was shot and killed by unknown gunmen on the Bori-Port Harcourt Road.

MOSOP strongly condemn the latest killing describing it as very controversial, provocative and an attempt by enemies of peace to thrown Ogoniland into another round of civil crisis.

MOSOP therefore calls for immediate investigations into the killings.

MOSOP also called on the Police authorities to check the trend in extra-judicial killings in parts of Ogoniland to avoid any confrontation over negligence and her seeming inability to protect the citizens.

We are saddened by the fact that the body of the victim was taken to the Police shortly after the incident and despite the information provided by the victim before his death, the Police has been unable to make any arrest.

MOSOP expressed worry and dissatisfaction over the performance of the Police within the Ogoni area and called for greater responsibility on the part of the authorities to secure the live of citizens in Ogoniland.
