Buhari bomb attack not political: New IGP

The new Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, on Monday dissed allegations that the Federal Government was involved in the bomb attack on General Mohammed Buhari.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Abba said that preliminary reports of investigation by the Police indicate that the claims were untrue.

The inspector general, who is on his fourth day in office, categorically debunked the claims that the attack was political.

He promised to make public the outcome of the investigations as soon as it is done.

On the deployment of police to Osun, Abba explained that the members of the force were in the state to ensure that peaceful atmosphere ahead of the Saturday (August 09) governorship election.

The IG assured the public of the safety of lives and property under his leadership.
