President Goodluck may be among those to be screened for Ebola virus when he arrives Washington on Sunday.

Although he did not give the names of those to screened, the United States President Barack Obama said on Friday that the country was taking the risks from the deadly Ebola virus very seriously and that some participants at an Africa summit taking place in Washington will be screened for exposure.

“We are taking the appropriate precautions,” he said.

“Folks who are from these countries that have even a marginal risk, or an infinitesimal risk of having been exposed in some fashion, we're making sure we're doing screening.”

President Goodluck Jonathan is among the African leaders that will be attending the Summit.

Jonathan is to leave Nigeria on Sunday (today) for the Summit.

Though Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia are the countries where Ebola outbreak has attained crisis proportion, the death of Liberian of the virus in Lagos has put Nigeria and Nigerians on special focus on the matter of the outbreak.

The Nigerian government said that it had placed all persons that came in contact with the deceased Liberian on special watch, while those who were in direct interaction with him had been quarantined as part of measures to ensure that the virus does not spread in the country.

African countries that are contending with the virus on a large scale include Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In the bid to prevent the disease from spreading to its country, Ghana has banned all airlines from Nigeria from flying into the country.

Others who will accompany Jonathan to the US-America Summit from Nigeria include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali; and his Finance counterpart, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Others are the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga; the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo; and the National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

Jonathan will return to Nigeria on Wednesday.
