Jonathan's Posters Flood Abuja

Residents of Abuja, Nigeria, Federal Capital territory, woke up very early Friday morning to see railings, sides of bridges and most standing structures defaced with 2015 campaign  posters of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The posters are the handiwork of some supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan under the auspices of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN.

The group which has Chief Udenta Udenta, a former pro-democracy activist as one of its prominent members, has been running a series of  commercials on television in which it compared the President Jonathan to great global figures like the late Dr. Martin Luther King, President Barack Obama and Lee Kuan Yew.

It was believed that the group is being discreetly funded by the Presidency through agencies such as the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Kingsley Kuku-led Amnesty Office.

As stated in the posters, TAN, plans to hold rallies around the six geographical zones of the country to ask President Jonathan to declare his intention to run for a second term of office.

According to the group,  the rallies will begin  from state capitals like Awka, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and Minna while the grand finale is slated for Abuja, at the Eagles Square.

Many are  concerned that the President is not bothered that his campaign posters are being used to deface the city and that early political campaigns clearly flout the Electoral Act.
