Isha Sesay Speaks To Parents Of The Abducted Chibok Girls In CNN Special, ‘100 Days Missing’

On April 14th, in Chibok, Northern Nigeria, Boko Haram kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls in the dead of the night. 100 days later, the parents continue to call for their safe return. 100 days of searching 100 days of heartache 100 days of waiting for answers that have yet to come.

CNN speaks to the parents of the missing girls and two of the girls that escaped from the den of the abductors.

Interviewed by CNN's Isha Sesay, parents of some of the missing schoolgirls, Lawan Zanna and Rebeccah Samuel talk about the horror their daughters would have gone through when abducted by the Boko Haram. '100 Days Missing' looks into their frustrations about not knowing the whereabouts of their children, as they desperately wait and pray for their safe return.

Hauwa John and Kawma Bitrus were two of the lucky schoolgirls who escaped from their abductors and explain how they came about their freedom. Hauwa, recounts her ordeal, 'We were in the truck that was carrying us away, we talked about escaping, some were scared but I said that I would rather jump off the truck, even if it means being killed, it is better than being taken away and held captive.'

She goes on to say that, 'life has been very difficult, and our presence causes a lot of anguish to the parents of the other girls who are still in captivity. My best friend is still in captivity, every time I go to her house, her mother cries and asks me why I did not escape with her.'

Kawma tells Isha: 'My best friend, Mary is among those kidnapped, she wants to further her education and go to university and we planned to go to the same school so we could further our academics together as friends and achieve our dreams.'

According to Chris Olukolade, Brigade General, Director of Defense Information, more than twenty thousand military troops are out on the field in search for the girls. 'Well, every option still remains on the table. Every option, again, related to the safe recovery of our girls,' he concludes.
