'I mistakenly impregnated my elder sister'

Shamsu Isa, 25, has told a Kano senior magistrate court sitting in Nomans-Land, that he impregnated his 27 years old sister in “mistake”.

The charge sheet filed against the accused before the court said that Isa was committing “incest contrary to section 390 of the penal code law.”

According to the charge, on July 4, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters reported at Jakara division that on July 1, you Shamsu Isa had sexual intercourse with your sister”.

The prosecution told the court that, Naima Isa, aged 27 years who was pregnant, had a feeble mind.

While responding to the allegation, the accused told the court that the allegation levied against him was true, stressing that “all that has been read against me, is true, it was a mistake, I mistakenly impregnated her, she is my elder sister”.

Corporal Ibrahim Abdulrazak, the prosecutor however told the court that it lacked jurisdiction to preside over the matter and subsequently applied for the matter to be adjourned to another date, stating that request is to enable the police conclude investigation into the case.

Senior magistrate Ummi Sani Kurawa, while delivering her ruling, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter to August 4 for mention
