As Adamawa Speaker rejects Nyako's resignation letter… Governor, deputy, lawmakers flee to Abuja

A fresh twist has been added to plans by members of Adamawa State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy Hon. Bala James Ngilari, as the Speaker, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Tuesday reportedly refused to accept a letter of resignation from the governor.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that embattled Nyako had in a calculated move to frustrate the Speaker's political calculations of becoming acting governor in the event turned in his resignation letter.

Sources said Nyako's resignation would have thrown up Ngilari as governor and scuttle Fintiri's governorship ambition hence the refusal to accept the governor's letter.

Ngilari and Fintiri are from the same Local Government Area, and are both known to be interested in succeeding Nyako.

Prior to becoming deputy governor, Ngilari had served as a member of the House of Representatives. Fintiri was deputy Speaker in the last Assembly.

Nyako is retired Admiral and served as former Defence and Navy chiefs. He holds the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of Nigeria (GCON).

Pointblanknews.com gathered that no sooner had Fintiri rejected Nyako”s letter than he and all the members of ths state Assembly jetted into Abuja.

While some sources claim the lawmakers ran to Abuja out of concern for their safety, Pointblanknews.com gathered that the trip may be aimed at check mating plans by Nyako to lobby top political leaders to save his neck.

Pointblanknews.com also gathered that the recent visit of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja, was not unconnected with how to save Nyako.

Amaechi and Nyako were some of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)- elected governors

who dumped the party last year for All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aside being one of the richest members of APC, Atiku is believed to have tremendous political influence in Adamawa State.
