BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 08, (THEWILL) - An advocacy group, Bring Back Our Girls Campaign, Tuesday lamented the docile attitude of the Federal Government, asking the Federal Government to involve local vigilante in efforts to free the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

Deputy National Mobilisation Leader of the group, Yusuf Sheriff Banki , who made the call at a media briefing in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, noted that the best option available for the Nigerian government to rescue the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok on April 14 and many other Boko Haram abductees is to work in conjunction with vigilante group and other institution in the area.

Banki said current Federal Government efforts to secure the release of the girls were too little and a source of embarrassment to the people of the country.

“Today makes it 85 days after gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram abducted over 200 female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, and there is still no credible information from government on the whereabouts of these girls.,” he lamented.

He said in the last 69 days that his group had been sitting daily at the Unity Fountain Maitama Abuja, there has not been result from government to show that serious efforts were being made to find the missing girls.

Banki lamented that rather than positive change , what the group have seen in the last 85 days , was the escalation and frequent Boko Haram attacks on Nigerians in every part of Borno State.

“Today 8th July, 2014 is 85 days since Chibok girls were abducted and our security chiefs informed the nation that rescue plans are at advance stage. We called this press conference today to express our deep concern that in spite of numerous assurance the Chibok girls have not been rescued,” he said.

According to him, contrary to claims in some quota that, the group is concerned about the Chibok girls alone, it is standing for not only Chibok girls but for all voiceless people irrespective of religion, tribes, sex and location from Borno and other neighbouring states.

“Chibok girls were abducted en mass from boarding school they simply went to with the hope of getting education. Once more we call on the Federal Government to liaise with local communities to get credible information to ease the finding of the abducted girls; to stop the blaming games and rather concentrate on the rescue operation and finally to increase the number of security personnel and equipment to hasten the rescue mission,” he said.
