Jonathan, Obasanjo, others in Council of State meeting

President Goodluck Jonathan is currently presiding over a meeting of the Council of State said to be very crucial at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting which started at about 11:40am had in attendance Vice President Namadi Sambo; President of the Senate, David Mark; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Shehu Shagari and former Head of the Interim National Government, Ernest Shonekan.

Others are former military Heads of State, Yakubu Gowon; Abdusalam Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida as well as some former Chief Justices of Nigeria and state governors.

Also in attendance includes Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada counterpart whom both led the opening Christian and Muslim prayers respectively.

Also present at the meeting were the Senate President, David Mark, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammad Uwais.

Other governors at the meeting were Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe,‎ Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger, and Acting governor of Taraba. Deputy Governors at the meeting include Benue, Jigawa, Ondo, Ogun and Yobe

Embattled Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, was surprisingly showed up at the meeting.


Nyako was the centre of attention when he entered the council chamber at about 10:55 a.m. before the commencement of the meeting got a lot of handshakes and banters from his colleagues when he took his seat in the chamber, his colleagues clustered around him to get the first-hand gist about happenings in Adamawa State‎.


Nyako had been enmeshed recently in an impeachment saga by the Adamawa State House of Assembly on alleged corruption charges.

The meeting is still on-going at the time of filing this report.
