Bishop is not a calling but an office- Bishop Omodiagbe

Bishop Dr. Matthew Omodiagbe is a self-motivated servant of God as well as the General Overseer and the Presiding Bishop of the Liberation Word Evangelical Ministries International. He has a full-fledged commission from the lord to liberate the people of this generation with the undiluted word of God. He is the President of Higher Life Ministers Conference that teaches both young and old ministers of God how to run their ministries effectively. He has written over 10 Christian books to his credit. In this exclusive interview with Godday Odidi, he spoke on his consecration as a Bishop on April 26th, 2014 at his church headquarters.

Can we meet you sir?
I am Bishop Matthew Omodiagbe, General Overseer and the Presiding Bishop of the Liberation Word Evangelical Ministries International. I am commissioned to liberate the people of this generation with the undiluted word of God.

You were recently consecrated as a Bishop in your church; can you tell us some of your experiences on that day?

Bishop is not a calling but an office for those General Overseers that have their own erected cathedral, branch pastors and others. I did not consecrate myself as a Bishop but I met all requirements for the position. I have able to build the ministry for God over the years. A Bishop must have a well- built spiritual and physical church with senior and junior pastors under its leadership. I never expected the mammoth crowd on that day of my Bishop consecration, we initially expected 500 guests, but the crowd was above that figure. Even Lagos State Government Representative and traditional rulers also graced the event. My Bishopric position was led by God. It was Archbishop Joseph Imariabe Ojo that consecrated me alongside with other top Bishops in Nigeria. As a Bishop, I overseer the affairs of the church, it is a responsibility on me to do.

You were not only consecrated as a Bishop only but also marked your 50th golden birthday on the same day, can you tell us about these twins' celebrations?

Age is just number. Though, I did not want to celebrate it but people that have affected in one way or the other that organised the birthday for me. Age is just the mind, it is all about the attainment of age but amount or volume of grace someone carries in his or her life that matters. My 50th years on earth today have just pushed me to do more major assignment of God in my life. Your increase of age should not reduce your volume of vision in life. No matter your age on earth, your cutting edge must not be blunt.

Many world well-known Bishops and ministers of God and government officials came to grace your Bishopric consecration, did you see yourself as a fulfilled servant of God?

I am not fulfilled yet. The day you are fulfilled, the day you die! As far I lived on earth, I will continue to work for God. I was elated to see great ministers of God and government officials gracing my occasion. It was dawn on me that I have a lot of responsibility to carry in my life most especially God's work.

Did you pay any money to be consecrated as a Bishop?

You don't pay any money to be consecrated as a bishop but the occasion demands money in the sense that you have to put your church in order, a lot of printing works must be carried out, grade your sound system and office and honouriums must be given to ministers too.

Tell us some of your ministerial impacts on the lives of your dedicated worshippers?

I cannot blow my own trumpet but any word God gives to me everyday, I share it to my worshippers. My Bishop consecration made me to know that I have touched lives positively through my ministration over the years. All both young and old ministers celebrated me on that day. I was not the best but God made that occasion to be successful. I also appreciated Higher Life Ministers too for their great supporter and my own ministers too.

In the next five years to come as a Bishop, what would your members expect from you?

If anybody tells you he or she knows tomorrow, he or she lies. But the truth is that we have to keep working for God. A Bishop is an office but that does not change your responsibility as a minister of God. A Bishop is not a calling but the calling is in you as a person. So I cannot predict my life in the next five years to come; only God can do that.

If in the next five years to come, you become an Archbishop, do you see it as a meteoric rise in ministerial fulfilment?

Little did I know I will be a Bishop, It is God that consecrated me not man, if God says, son it is time to be an Archbishop, and well it is not in my mind now.

You just wrote your eleventh book now which caption as' Three men that caught God', can you tell us about the book and the way forward?

Well the book is all about three men that caught God which emphasized on three key areas like righteousness, worship and prayers. The inspiration to write this book came when I went to camp with my ministers. It is all about giving your total commitment to God. Every young ministers of God must be patience in life.
