Sanusi Lamido Sanusi turbaned as Emir of Kano, gets appointment letter

The newly appointed Emir of Kano, HRH, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been turbaned, which officially signals the beginning of his emir-ship.

He was given official appointment letter at his formal coronation ceremonies at the Africa Hall, Kano State Government House, Kano, on Monday.

The turbaning of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the 14th emir of Kano, was attended by Gov. Kwankwaso and his cabinet, the new Emir's friends, including Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, APC leaders in the region and many more.

The event was kicked off with an opening prayer said by the Walin Kano Mahe Wali while the Madaki of Kano that is responsible for the formal turbaning addressed the guests present.

Governor Kwankwanso, made his remarks at the occasion in Hausa in accordance with a 200-plus-year tradition.

He lamented the politicisation of the selection process, while insisting that Sanusi was not selected politically.

According to him, , 'The appointment of an emir is not a political issue. It is unfortunate that some enemies of Kano State attempted to politicise this process.

'Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was not only on the recommended list of the kingmakers but was on top of the list,' '

Kwankwanso also revealed that the state has provided a new building for the family of the former Emir and his large family and that they would be handed the keys today.

'The Kano State Government has built a befitting building for the large family of the late emir in Sharada. The keys will be handed over today to the family to move in,' he added.

Gov Kwankwaso handed the Emir his appointment letter after reading the full text confirming Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the 14th Emir of Kano.
