As part of its programme to decongest the Owerri prisons, the Imo State Government has reiterated its readiness to grant amnesty to deserving prison inmates whose offenses cannot be proved beyond reasonable doubts.

Disclosing this in Owerri while handing over financial assistance to the management of the prison, Governor Rochas Okorocha represented by his Special Adviser on Justice and Social Fairness, Barr. Obinwa Etukemka said that the money was for the provision of drugs, clothes and other necessary items to the inmates assuring that those suffering from any form of ailment would also be treated.
