Diagnoses And Treatments Of Diseases, Ailments And Sicknesses Originating From The Human Soul
We paused last week to respond to a piece written by Femi Aribisala in a local Nigerian newspaper as directed by the Holy Spirit. We continue with our series on Divine Health this week by looking at how Satan and his demons attack the human soul with diseases sicknesses and ailments. We have pointed out numerous times in this column the Tripartite Nature of God Almighty namely: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Also known as Trinity, the first opening paragraph in Genesis the first book of the Holy Bible introduced the Sovereign Lord God Almighty in His Triune Personality thus in Genesis 1: 1-3:
“In the beginning God (the Father) created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the (God the Holy Spirit) Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God (God the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ) said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” When God the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ manifested Himself physically on planet earth to save sinful humanity-you and me-from Satan years later, He appropriately referred to Himself as “the Light of the world” (John 8: 12).
This God the Son Who is our Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior created all things as the Word of God. This spiritual truth was revealed to Apostle John and that was why He began his epistle in the book that bears his name in John 1: 1-5 thus:- “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
In the first 25 verses of the Book of Genesis, the word: “said” appeared 7 times and was attributed to God the Son; those seven times and those occasions referred to our Lord Jesus Christ Who is the Word of God.
When we say God is Three or in Triune, we're not saying there are Three Gods, rather we're saying God operates in Three Distinctions in His Being. Confused? Let me explain through the Holy Spirit. I am also three in my being as someone created in the Inage of God. You too are also three in your being: spirit, soul and body as recorded in Genesis 2: 7 thus: “Then the LORD God - (God the Father, God the Son with God the Holy Spirit) formed a man (humankind) from the dust of the ground (flesh or body) and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, (man the spirit) and the man became a living being (man the soul).” This is what it means when the Holy Bible says human beings were created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1: 26 & 28). That is why human beings are different from animals and other creatures of the Lord God Almighty.
Many things distinguish us from lower animals, but one unique feature of us as human beings is that, we are first and foremost spiritual beings with souls living in physical bodies. That was why John prayed for believers in 3 John 1-2 thus: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers” (The Amplified Bible). In 1 Thessalonians 5: 23b, Apostle Paul prayed for all believers by clearly delineating the triune parts of every human being this way: “May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” In Luke 1: 46-47, the Virgin Mary distinguished these three parts in her prayer to the Lord God in the Magnificat after Angel Gabriel delivered the message of the Virgin Conception to her thus:- “And Mary said: My soul exalts the Lord and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.”
Apostle Paul had two unique signature marks in virtually all his epistles in the New Testament. First, he would start by invoking the Triune Personality of the Lord God in his introduction this way: “Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ (God the Son) and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—(Galatians 1: 1). In the Book of Romans, he did the same in Romans 1: 7b thus: - “Grace and peace to you from God our Father (the Father) and from the Lord Jesus Christ (God the Son)” The same he did in Ephesians 1: 2; 1 Corinthians 1: 3; 2 Corinthians 1: 2; 1Thessalonians 1: 1 etc. All the 14 epistles written by Apostle Paul bore the introductory signature of God Triune Personality. The second unique signature mark of Apostle Paul in virtually all his writings was the way he ended his letters in form of conclusion. He would draw parallels between God's Triune Personality of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit with the unique tripartite personality of human beings created in the image and likeness of God (refer back to Genesis 1: 26 and 28). Here is how he ended most of his epistles. In 2 Corinthians 13: 14 he concluded thus: - “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, (God the Son) and the love of God (God the Father), and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit (God the Spirit) be with you all.” He did the same in Galatians 6: 18; Ephesians 6: 23; and in his other letters. All these boil down to one thing; as a human being, you are more than dust. Unlike animals that have no spirit, you as a human being have a spirit and a soul living in a physical flesh or body. At death here on earth, the flesh goes to the ground and becomes sand or dust, but both your spirit and soul live forever in eternity. However, there are two sides of the eternity: heaven or hell. Both your spirit and soul live forever but the issue every one of us –you and me-will decide here on earth is where you want to spend eternity: heaven or hell. In future articles in this column, we shall explain the process through which the physical body is severed from the spirit and soul near the human spine as the Holy Spirit showed me. You won't like to miss it. But for now, let's concentrate on how diseases, sicknesses and ailments are used by Satan and his demons to attack the human soul. We went into this elaborate background to show from the Word of Life that human beings have three components as God in His Triune Personality namely:- spirit, soul and body. Some diseases, ailments and sicknesses are physical as I pointed out penultimate week; some are spiritual while some are uniquely based on the human soul.
Diseases, Ailments and Sicknesses that Afflict the Human Soul: The human soul is basically you. When we say a person's soul, what we are invariably referring to is your personality. I have my soul and you have yours. That is why human beings are called free moral agents. Your soul is you and you only. It defines who you are. No one, not even God or Satan can control your soul. As the Lord God Almighty has set up His Sovereignty over creation, He has the power to override the human soul or our personality but He doesn't have the power to override His law. I repeat again, as Awesome, Powerful and Sovereign as the Lord God Almighty is, He cannot and never will He override the human soul. He is God of Love and His Love precludes Him to barge unto the human soul and force His Will on us. Because God values His Words even more than His Name (Psalm 138: 1), thus, He will never use His Awesome Power to defraud every human being his/her individual personality. To do that will be to rob us of our individual identity and personality. He can appeal, entreat, counsel, warn, discipline and plead as a Loving and Caring Father does to his children in Love but that is how far He can go in making us to serve, worship and obey Him.
Our Lord Jesus Christ made this point emphatically clear in Revelation 3: 20 thus: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Never will the Lord God Almighty force open the door of the human heart; you must willingly open the door of your heart to Him, period! He will stay at the door of the human soul till the person's time is up here on earth which is called death. Similarly, Satan and his demons too respect this basic fundamental spiritual law. Just as God will not and never override the human soul so also Satan and his demons can never override the individual soul as well. All Satan and his minions can do is cajole, intimidate, trick, entice, send fears, bait and entreat but ultimately the decision to follow God or Satan is individual choice. This is very, very important.
There are six levels of the human soul. Just as the human spirit is divided into three levels as we pointed out two weeks ago and elaborated more on those three parts and their subdivisions in our book; “The Kingdom of Satan Exposed: Activities of Principalities and Demon Worship In Our World Today.” The six levels or parts of the human soul are attacked individually or collectively by Satan and his demons and these six parts of the human soul are examined below:-
The Will: This is the seat of decision and the most important part of the human soul. Wherever the “will” goes so the rest parts of the human soul and it's only the “will” part of the human soul that the Lord God Almighty wants just as our Lord Jesus Christ said in John 7: 17: “Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” This will is the area of the human soul where the Wills of God and that of human beings clash. We have written extensively on this human will in our book; “The Kingdom of Satan Exposed: Activities of Principalities and Demon Worship in Our World Today.”
Emotion: This is that part of the human soul that regulates individual's behaviors to events, situations and circumstances. In Ecclesiastes 7:9, we are told thus: - “Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, for anger resides in the bosom of fools.”
Intellect:-This is that part of the human soul that deals with intelligence. It is highly commodious and vast. The way we tap into our intellect is a matter of how much we can absolve. The intellect operates in the realm of the humans and is incapable of grasping things of the spirit as Apostle Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 2: 10-14: “The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” No matter your high level of intellect, it is of zero-utility in grasping the things of God. That is why the secular academics, the moral relativists and post-modernists of the world seem not to get it when we talk about the Saving Grace and Salvation of our Lord Jess Christ. No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ said that for any human being to understand the things of the Spirit, he/she must become like a baby in Mathew 18: 3:-“And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
The Mind: - This is that part of the human soul that takes in information, digests and takes a decision in tandem with the intellect. The mind is the house; the intellect is the library of the human soul while the will acts as the owner of the house that makes the final decision after receiving inputs from the rest parts of the soul. As the house itself of the human soul, the mind can only pass information received from the intellect to the will based on the amounts of information available in the house, thus Apostle Paul admonished believers in Romans 12: 2 thus: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Memory: - This is the storage facility or the file cabinet of the mind, because it serves as the archives of the human soul. During and after conversion, Christians often see themselves bugged down by past sins and unholy experiences, thus the Lord God Almighty warned in Isaiah 43: 18: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”
Imagination: - We are concerned about the future and what it holds in stock for us as human beings. It is that part of the human soul known as imagination that takes us from today to tomorrow and just as the memory is the archive of the mind, imagination is akin to “pending” file cabinet of the human soul. Because the human soul is limited in understanding the future, because only the Lord God Almighty knows the future, we are admonished in Philippians 4: 8 to concentrate our imagination on only these 8 fundamental things of life concerning how to use our imagination namely: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
Satan and his demons attack each of these six parts of the human soul ceaselessly with diseases, ailments and sicknesses. We explain below how the fiendish forces of darkness go about these soulical attacks.
Satan and his demons attack the human will through fear and that is why we are told repeatedly over and over again by the Lord; “Do not be afraid” (Deuteronomy 31:6; Isaiah 41: 10; Luke 12:4; Acts 18: 9 etc.). Fear is a disease; it can lead to paralysis, stroke and all kinds of disabilities visible in the human physical body. Satan and his demons use all kinds of strategies to break the human will to sin and break the laws of God, because they know that the will is the seat of decision and wherever the human will goes as stated above, the rest parts of the human soul follow. Lies, deception, fear, wooing, trickery, cajolement, enticement, baiting, intimidation and teases and other “wiles” as the Holy Bible put it in order to break the human will. That was why Apostle Peter warned in 1 Peter 5: 8: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” So what are we supposed to do to outwit Satan and his demons in this area?
James 4: 7 directed us thus: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” No matter your status, intellect, strong determination and education, and will power outside the Will of God and His Divine Protection, you're mincemeat before Satan and his demons. No human being, no matter how highly placed you are can match the intelligence, wisdom and understanding of Satan and his demons, although all their wisdom, understandings and intelligence are perverted and lead them and those sucked in by their lies and deceptions into the Nether Gloom.
The human intellect puffs up and turns us into self-gods. Satan and his demons like any human being who is proud. After all, it was the same pride that made Satan to fall from God's Grace and thus, any human being who is proud and believes he/she doesn't need the True Lord God Almighty is a formidable ally of Satan and his rebellious hordes. Pride itself is an ailment and only the Wisdom of God can cure it. It will be surprising to many of the world's philosophers and intellectuals that some of the high-sounding “isms” that are parroted from many of our colleges and universities are from straight from the pit of hell. Often times, many spiritually ignorant people, especially academics, intellectuals and ordinary people have misconceptions about Satan and his demons as old-fashioned, dirty, foolish and weird, which are true; but there are some demons that are highly intelligent and sophisticated. In Genesis 3: 1, we read: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
In 1 Timothy 6: 20, Apostle Paul warned believers thus:-“Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith.” Woe betides anyone who takes protection in self-power and self-immunity from Satan and his demons outside the Divine power of God. No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ warned us in John 15: 5:- "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” There is nothing esoteric about the Saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and Salvation, except humility. Without meekness and self-abnegation, the Gospel is foolishness to a haughty and perishing world.
The mind is another part of the human soul Satan and his demons love to control. It is a fortress they want to seize at all times, because as aforesaid, the mind is the house of the human soul and anyone who controls it can decide what that house will be used for. The Lord God wants us to renew our minds, period! The Holy Spirit wants us to use our minds to read the Holy Bible, listen to His instructions in the Intuition and use it for all that is edifying and Godly. Never and I repeat never will God take our mind from us, but on the other hand, Satan and his demons want to use the human mind. What caused the fall of our First Parents-Adam and Eve-in the Garden of Eden was that Eve listened to the serpent-Satan-with her mind; consequently, the human mind has a close affinity with the demons, whether you are a believer or unbeliever. That is why after a person becomes a born-again Christian, you must undergo what I will call “spiritual detoxification” through what Apostle Paul referred to “the renewing of you mind” in Romans 12: 2.
Here is how to know whether your mind is occupied by Satan and his demons; any time you are told in any religious gathering or movement, even those that masquerade as Christians that you should meditate, lose your senses, submit to the inner power in you, allow power and energy to use you and you don't have to examine anything but allow the energy to flow; you are opening your mind to the demonic world. This is the defining signature of all demon-energized religions of the world; from demonic yogis and all the so-called Oriental religions of the world. You are told not to lift a finger, but let the energy flow. Meditate and tap into your inner power and mix with the universe. Satan and his demons love idle minds and people who blank their minds out for the “energy” to come in or channeling, which are fancy euphemisms for demons. If you leave your mind idle, demons will use it for you to serve their ends. In most cases, at the beginning, such demonized religious practices can be benign as the demons often masquerade as agents of good and talents, but further penetration and entrenchments in the lives of their victims will be revealed. We have written extensively on the three levels Satan and his demons operate in the human mind in this vein in our book: “The Kingdom of Satan Exposed: Activities of Principalities and Demon Worship in Our World Today.”
The human memory is your archives which house your past experiences. Satan and his demons go to the human memory repeatedly to dredge out your past failures, disappointments, regrets etc. It is a strategy of demons to make you a hostage of your past. “Remember so and so in the past” Satan and his demons repeatedly drum into your mind and brain. “Remember, your father died of stroke and your late mother died of breast cancer,” Satan and his demons shout hoarse into your mind. “You are going to end like them too.” Fear grips you and you lose your spiritual balance. “You know your parents died young, they didn't make it to 70 years,” Satan and his demons shout at your mind, “What do you think will make you think you will live to 70 years?” Again, if you are an unbeliever, you buy the dummy being sold to you by these useless spirits and your fate is sealed, because as a person thinks, so he/she is (Proverbs 23: 7).
Even if you are a born-again Christian, you can fall for this demonic dummy unless you have spiritual knowledge, because the Holy Bible says in Colossians 1: 12-14 “…giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Other tricks that Satan and his demons deplore to mess up the human mind are traditions, culture and customs as 1 Peter 1: 8 noted: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,…” The day you confessed your sins and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord (Romans 10: 10), all your past misdeeds and sins have been washed away and as Micah 7: 19 assured us of God's total deliverance, “You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”
Finally, the human imagination is not spared either by Satan and his demons in afflictions of the human soul with diseases, ailments and sicknesses. Hallucinations, schizophrenia, illusion, delusion of the grandeur and all those ailments are diseases of the human soul targeted at the imagination. When human beings allow their imaginations to run amok and begin to entertain or as we say imagine things not rooted in the Holy Bible and the Will of God, Satan and his demons move in and mess up your imagination. Each time you visit voodoo practitioners, native doctors, consult Tarot Card, go to psychics, demonic parapsychologist, native magicians, native doctors and fake religious leaders who tell you they can predict your future, you have forfeited your will to them and they can and do have the power to program your life along the patterns dictated by their masters; Satan and demons-on whose behest they operate. That is why we are warned as Christ followers and believers in 2 Corinthians 10: 5 thus: - “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” No matter how enticing and wise any advice, words or exhortations from Satan, his demons and their human agents may sound attractive and convincing, they always lead to bondage for those sucked in by them.
NEXT WEEK: We will look at the aspects of the human physical body which we are all familiar with and how Satan and his demons afflict human beings with diseases, ailments and sicknesses in the human body. Why are some diseases, sicknesses and ailments ravaging the human body untreatable at times by orthodox medicine? How do Satan and his demons afflict the human physical body and the human soul at the same time?

Dear Brother Chinedum, I didn't say so or imply that in my referenced article. Please read the article over and over again and pray that the Holy Spirit will open the ears of your understanding. As to the issue of wealth and riches, I implore you to keep regular communication with this columnist as the Holy Spirit will use us sometime in the future to write series of articles on Divine Health in this column. Thanks for your questions. I have written a lot, both recently and in the past on how to know your purpose here on earth. Of course, you must be a born-again Christian first before you can discover God's purpose for your life. Al unbelievers are living their purposes on earth, because there is a marked difference between your purpose and God's purpose for your life.
