GOV. OKOROCHA’S VALUE FOR GOD

The research work of L.E Raths, M. Harmin and S.B Simon published in 1966 gave an insight into values. They insist that 'values are general guide to behaviour driven from experience which gives direction to life.' What this means is that values give direction to ones behavior and this direction becomes the reference point. Yes, values are reference point for human beings in their behaviours, choices, action and omissions.

What humans do or leave undone are determined or influenced by our values. As guides to our choices, we cannot do without them hence we are obliged to make choices. Therefore values are intimately associated with all human beings without exemption. No wonder Philomena Agudo opined that 'Values are so important to human beings, that without them, one cannot possibly discover a meaning to life.'

The behavior of a man explains his value for both God and his fellow man. If any professes to love God and does not manifest same in his behavior and interaction with mankind, the same is a hypocrite that should never be trusted. This is the place Gov. Rochas finds himself.

Our Gov. seems to be afraid of those simple words like goodness, love, mercy and kindness which inform why his administration is sick. In the words of Lin Yutang, 'We don't believe in the good old words because we don't believe in the good old values anymore. And that is why the world is so sick.' Yes, the good old values replicated in the conscience of Chief Sam Mbakwe that made him rule the old Imo for only few years thereby setting an unbeatable record; the record which any past or present governor is yet to beat. Chief Sam Mbakwe till today remains the best civilian Governor Imo has ever had. It is a pity that Chief Rochas Okorocha could compare his achievements to that of late Chief Sam O. Mbakwe.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha's value for God is highly conspicuous in his behaviour and administrative duplicity. He is very close to God with the words of his mouth but his heart is far away from God. He knows little or nothing about the true love of God in practical terms. Gov. Rochas is not alone in this aspect, so many of our leaders of today deny the poor masses the love and succour that ordinarily should come from them. Christ spoke about this type of people thus, 'This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me' Matt.15:8-9. I am not the judge because God knows who is who and he knows his true children.

I am saying this because what we are, reflect in our interaction with others. We can only give what we have and not otherwise. The Bible further confirms 'A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of evil treasure brings forth evil things' Matt. 12 :35.

Following the above biblical verdict, we all could draw our conclusion following philosophical cum logical inference hitherto conspicuous in Gov. Rochas Okorocha's administration as a result of the evidence that speaks volume. What is happening in APC now in Imo State has shown that Chief Okorocha has power but lacks the grace to co-ordinate it. It is divine grace that enables people follow a leader anywhere he goes. Today our governor is leading without reasonable followership. A popular Africa proverb has it that, 'He who thinks he is leading and has no one following him is only taking a walk.'

I make bold to inform my reader here that our governor is merely taking a walk because he is working alone. Those who were clapping for him when he started have all turned against him because the sound of a bitter cola is not how it tastes. Yes, the true colour of Chief Rochas I know is gradually manifesting.

A man who uses smile to do evil cannot stop at anything in hoodwinking his people. His smiles are fake even if Imo people are blind the way he thinks, God is watching him. All the abominations that are going on in Gov. Rochas Okorocha's administration are capable of making God bilious. People are avoiding him the way lepers are being avoided which is strong evidence that love, grace, unity, equity and fair play have departed. According to Benjamin Franklin, 'If you could be loved, love and be lovable' in being lovable one must exhibit some attractive qualities as mother Teresa of Calcuta puts it, 'A joyful heart is the moral result of a heart burning with love.'

It is the value Okorocha has for God that is intertwined the love he has for Imo youths that made him initiate a program he called 'The Youths Must Work.' It is worthy of note that under the 'Youth Must Work' program, over eight hundred billion Imo youths have been employed at different factories located at Bongo's square, being a factory and wonderful industry Okorocha's administration has established for Imo youths. He deserves to be praised and be re-elected in 2015. Lies and deceit of Chief Rochas!

It is very clear that the so called employment he created has not been able to bring food on the tables of Imo youths. They have worked for about six months now without any salary. What then is the purpose of searching for a job, just to work without payment? Those at the secondary schools are crying and abandoning the so called offer because it is a beautiful egg with a rotten yoke.

One of the fables of Aesop the slave philosopher has it that some fishermen were hauling a large drag-net. As it was so heavy, they rejoiced and danced, imagining that the catch was a big one. But when they had pulled the drag-net to the bank they found very few fish. It was mostly filled with stones and debris. The fishermen were deeply upset, less because of what had happened than because of their disappointment to their heightened expectations.

But one of them, an old fellow, said to the other, don't let's be depressed, friends. For it would seem that joy has for its sister affliction. And if we rejoice prematurely then we should expect its contrary to follow.

The point I am making here is that Imo people like the fishermen in the fable thought that the catch in 2011 was a good one. The arch Bishop A.J.V Obinna thought as much but today, they have finally discovered that they caught stones and debris in 2011 fishing/election that produced Chief Rochas Okorocha. I knew it from the beginning that Imo trap caught the smelling rat but what i did not know is how long we shall live with this obnoxious aroma.

The fishermen are back to the river again in other to reposition the political history of Imo state in 2015. I have seen stones, debris and real fish all in the same river. I pray we will be able to differentiate thief from armed robbers to avoid making the same mistake. The way I am seeing Imo PDP, they are about making the same mistake that brought us to this barren soil of error. Everybody should watch out!
