As part of his party manifestos towards aggressive industrialisation of Ekiti state; Labour Party governorship candidate in June election, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has pledged immediate revival of the state owned burnt bricks industry, Ekiti Bricks Industry in Ire-Ekiti.

Bamidele disclosed this yesterday as he continued his campaign rally in Ire-Ekiti, under Oye local government of the state.

He told a crowd of his supporters who thronged the palace of Onire of Ire, Oba Victor Bobade Adeleke to receive him that the factory which stopped production in 1985 would be revived as soon as he gets to office.

He said the brick industry established in 1979 by administration of late Adekunle Ajasin under former Ondo State had large job opportunities but went comatose because of bad managers.

According to him, “Our government will revive the Ire Bricks Industry located here in Ire Ekiti. This town has large deposits of clay but because of bad governance over the years the company could not employ several of our youths”

“If as a state commissioner in Lagos we could increase Internally Generated Revenue, IGR of the state even when federal government refused to pay our allocation for two years, we could do it in Ekiti through reviving dead industries”

“Despite the large deposit of solid minerals across Ekiti, today the state can not boast of a single stone quarry that can employ 100 people especially our youths”

Bamidele who claimed to have a diary of contact of best investors around the world promised people of Ire Ekiti that modern technology would be introduced at the bricks industry.

He said revival of “Ire Bricks” would drastically lead to a reduction in the current population of 496,000 jobless youths in Ekiti State.

The monarch in his response applauded the track records of the candidate while serving in Lagos and Abuja, admonishing him not to forget his promises to Ekiti people when he gets to office.

Bamidele also took his campaign to Ilupeju, Itapa, Ijelu and Omu Ekiti all in Oye Local government area.
