Chinese Consular General Formally Joins Membership Of Port Harcourt Chamber Of Commerce

Described an invaluable addition to the growing list of quality membership of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, PHCCIMA, Consulate General of the Peoples Republic of China has been admitted formally as member of PHCCIMA.

This was made known recently when President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Engr. Emeka Unachukwu led a delegation to the office of the Consulate General to present a plaque of membership.

Speaking during the visit, the Consulate General, Mr. Liu Khan extended his welcome to the PHCCIMA delegation and briefly elaborated and introduced bilateral relations, economic and trade exchanges between China and Nigeria. He pointed out that River State remains the second strongest State in terms of its economy in Nigeria, coming only second after Lagos State.

Khan also made the delegation to understand that a lot of Chinese personnel and companies had developed in River State, particularly in the capital city of Port Harcourt that has continued to evolve as a very important port city.

The Consulate General stated that he attaches great importance to developing relationship with friends from all walks of life including River State where very important bodies like the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce is domiciled. He said more successful businessmen and companies are welcome to do business that will be mutually beneficially with China. He particularly assured that PHCCIMA shall henceforth be given priority when it comes to visa and business collaborations that has to do with China.

In his remark, the President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Engr. Emeka Unachukwu expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded them, briefly introducing the PHCCIMA delegation which includes PHCCIMA Treasurer, Mrs Stella Agada and PHCCIMA Head of Chinese Mission, Mr. Paulinus Eze. According to him, PHCCIMA is a body that supports businesses to thrive, and said they are willing to establish good relationship to promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between PHCCIMA, River State and China.

Unachukwu used the opportunity to encourage the Consul General to visit River State at his convenience. He pointed out that PHCCIMA is the biggest commercial and industrial Chamber in Nigeria with around 900 members or member companies, which includes foreign companies investing and operating in River State and assured him that the new relationship will blossom beyond wildest expectation.
