Imo Community Monitor: 2015 Election In Imo, Group Canvasses For Transparency & Good Governance
A political pressure group operating under the auspices of Imo Mandate Organization (I.M.O.) has reiterated its willingness to continue to frown at political injustice and as well promotes good governance in all levels.
Making this disclosure while interacting with newsmen, the national coordinator of the group, Comrade Obinna Nwachukwu described the organization as a coalition of different groups whose primary objective is to ensure the deepening of Nigerian democracy in the state irrespective of the geo-political zone an individual comes from.
According to Comrade Nwachukwu, 'Imo State belongs to Imo Citizens; our group believes strongly in a leader not a ruler, if any zone can give credible governorship candidate that has leadership qualities, we don't have any problem'.
He therefore regretted situation where a zone deems it as a sole and exclusive right to produce the Governor in 2015 election saying that it should be something that involves every individual in the state.
Comrade Nwachukwu therefore scored the present administration in the state high in the areas of municipal development adding that concentrating only at the center would not offer any food on the tables of the masses.
On roads, the I.M.O coordinator acknowledged that many road constructions have been initiated by Governor Okorocha's led government but regretted that out of the projects, none has been completed even while advising that quality jobs should be executed instead of frivolities.
On education, Comrade Nwachukwu described the free education offer by the rescue mission government as a Greek gift where according to him, authorities of the tertiary institutions were mandated by the state government to heighten acceptance levy and other sundry fees which he said tantamount to robbing Peter to pay Paul.
He therefore condemned in strong terms situation where all government institutions in the state have gone moribund while functional once go contrary to laid down rules and regulations in the execution of its duties.
Comrade Nwachukwu further advised Governor Okorocha's led government to stop the destruction of legacies of previous administrations in the state but focus on the on-going flyovers initiated by his predecessor instead of building round-about.
Continuing, Comrade Nwachukwu appealed to Imolites to resist any boastful, arrogant and loquacious man whose stock in trade is to loot the treasury of the state and as well, render the masses useless.
On how the organization derives its funding, he hinted that the group was being financed by people of like minds stressing that some public spirited individuals willing to partner with the group also invest in ensuring good governance.
